Director Sidney Lumet is shooting a movie for HBO called "Strip Search that will look into supposed abuses of civil rights since 9/11.
"Its inspired by real-life incidents, examples of a sort of McCarthyism that has existed since the attacks, MSNBC quotes an "insider" as saying.
"Its about people whove been punished for saying and thinking things in a country where theres supposed to be freedom of speech and thought. Theres no doubt that it will be controversial, given the level of emotions on this subject.
Really? The primary places that Americans are punished for speaking and thinking are the leftist-dominated universities and failed government school monopolies and leftist-dominated Hollywood. Is that what the movie is about?
Apparently not. Lumet is a noted "liberal," and his stars include leftist actress Glenn Close and leftist actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, so count on yet another Bush-bashing fantasy from Tinseltown's ignorami.

Its about people whove been punished for saying and thinking things in a country where theres supposed to be freedom of speech and thought. Well, I'm waiting to see this. So far all I've seen is cries of "censorship" in response to counter-arguments.

P.S. I'm still waiting for Dan Rather to reveal those "hard questions" he talked about. They being the questions he thought he was unable to ask just after 9/11 due to "censorship."

Liberals really can spread the words "McCarthyism" and "Nazis" around, when talking about anyone who disagrees with them, can't they?
To: Paul Atreides
Just say "No" to HBO. I did.

They have repeated it so often, I had begun to ignore it, let it just roll along without a challenge, I'm glad Ann has begun to take them to task about it. And from what I've seen on the talking head shows she is beginning to get some traction with it when you see their astounded reactions to her obviously well-researched information.

Are they going to show a part in the movie where the Dixie Strumpet runs to Congress and tries to have the government force her former fans to buy her music like they did before she opened her cake hole about President Bush?

After reading "Treason" by Coulter, I just laugh when liberlals evoke McCarthyism. Whenever they do so, it's obvious they're involved in unpatriotic behavior and want to silence criticism.

I have a feeling that she will at least be mentioned.

We already have such a program. In fact we have several. The networks like to call it the national news.

"sort of McCarthyism"
Stopped reading right there. Whenever HBO does a movie on contemporary politics it is a travesty. Showtime did a movie a few years back on the Clarence Thomas hearings. It was so egriously viscious and factually untrue that I wrote a letter to showtime protesting the movie and then cancelled my subscription. I think there was even a Freeper email drive about it as well. And from my knowledge it has never been shown again.

I haven't had HBO since the late 80s/early 90s. IMO, it is a waste of money, especially when movie rentals are so cheap.
To: Paul Atreides
same...if all of us call, complain, and CANCEL our HBO subscriptions, you'll see a lot less of this B.S.
