Like other Bush press conferences, it appeared the event was scripted and that Bush was to call on two pre-determined American reporters.

Gee, there's a shock. A presidential press conference that's scripted?

Good questions. This is not surprising:

McCLELLAN: Well, first, let me speak to the issue of the Texas-Mexico border. Because when the President was governor, he made it very clear that he was opposed to building a wall along that border, that walls tend to separate people.

Why call on WND's reporter when reporters from the alphabets and cable TV are present? The aforementioned have a much larger audience!

Well, duh. They also tend to separate the criminals from the law abiding.

I'm going to have to get my bullhorn out for this one:

Mr. President...tap,tap,tap...is this thing on?

Mr. President...Good Fences Make Good Neighbors!

Thank you. That is all.

WND: Page 1 of the Washington Times reports "U.S. reverses its position on Hamas. Powell says nonviolence key to new role." And my question: If this is done, despite Abbas' total violation of the road map's requirement that Hamas be disarmed, why should al-Qaida not be extended the same olive branch?

McCLELLAN: I'm sorry, I didn't hear the first part of your question. But the road map makes very clear that terrorist organizations need to be dismantled. And that's –

Score:
Scott McClellan - 1
Obnoxious reporter - 0

This is on about the same level as him rebuffing the Enquirer or Weekly World News.

In short, who really cares if he blows off a 4th rate flunky reporter from a 5th rate hysteria rag?

So let me get this straight. The President agrees to take questions from the press. He tells those assembled that he and Sharon will alternate CALLING on a member of the press for a question and then Les Kinsolving rudely ignores the President's stated guidelines and blurts out a question and WND gets po'd because the President refuses to let Kinsolving finish his question. Is that the gist of this story?

Sounds like the President was pretty tame in his response.

We are a separate people with a separate country and a separate culture. I don't want my culture merged with the Mexican culture as is happening now. We need a huge wall that's actually watched and protected. Legal immigration is one thing, but we're being invaded and nobody cares.

Well duh, there weren't any Mexicans coming across with bombs strapped to their bodies and blowing up Americans.

The only people standing in the way of the Road Map are fundies. Polls show that over 80% of Arabs and Jews support it. Bush is trying to create peace but there are some who apparently favor Jewish-Muslim violence and NO road map to peace would be acceptable. They know no compromise.

Regarding the border, who all here plans to attend the Sept. 10-11 demonstrations in D.C. to protest our open borders at which Tom Tancredo will be one of the speakers? Who here, who cannot attend in D.C., is going to organize sister demonstrations in their own cities?
