Best o' luck to you!
We've never had to consult with the USSS about our signs as local rules prevail. We mainly use lightweight wooden dowels, yardsticks or the like--nothing that could be used to seriously hurt someone, which is what most LEOs are concerned about.

Thanks for that advice Kristin. I'll use that info when I call the SS. Since our group is going to be fairly small, I don't expect we'll have any problems. Besides, YOUR reputation has preceeded us and I expect they will know who we are and how we operate.
Thanks again for the help!

I buy 8-foot lengths of lattice strips at Home Depot (for ~$1.25) and have them cut it to 4-foot lengths. The lattice strips are approx. 1-1/2" wide and 1/4" thick. They are thick enough to support your posterboard but thin enough to be non-threatening, IMO; and the Secret Service, US Park Police, DC Police, US Capitol Police, Supreme Court Police, Arlington County Police, Fairfax County Police, and others have never made me or any of the DC Chapter members remove them.
Have a great FReep!
