After you crack someone on the head with it you can use the light to see if his pupils dilate. That's so true. My Mag-Lite (3 D cell) recently rolled off the hood of the car onto concrete and never skipped a beat. Everyone should pack a Mag-Lite in their carry-on.

Basically, the hijackers have no (easy) way of controlling all the passengers - the old ways of fear and bullets have been greatly reduced Maybe the answer is to give ALL passengers a nice sharp knife as they board. Now let's see if anyone tries anything with 200 knives on board.
