Too bad I only own 5 acres. When I win the Lottery and can find a larger ranch, I promise to set aside acreage the BSA can use to replace this camp. I DO NOT promise it will be in a city/urban setting. Most likely a far way from "civilization", but the price of the land lease will be appropriate.

Mataguay and the camps in the Cuyamaca area are satisfactory alternatives, but they are a very long drive. It isn't practical to schedule lifesaving merit badge classes at those locations unless you plan to camp there for a whole week. There is also a specialty shop at the camp that stocks all the badges and insignia for uniforms. That will need to be replaced in some fashion.

I rode my bicycle from Chula Vista to places as far away as San Vicente reservoir in search of merit badge counselors. It's going to be difficult to find an alternative facility for the swimming related badges.

I miss listening to Roger Hedgecock in the afternoons. I'll bet he is pretty fired up on the issue by now.
