BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military handed over the bodies of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s sons Odai and Qusai to the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, which will bring the corpses to their hometown of Tikrit, the U.S. Army said on Saturday.

"The Red Crescent will take them to Tikrit and from there somebody will hopefully claim the bodies," said Cpl. Todd Pruden.

The bodies of the two men were being held in refrigeration at the U.S. base at Baghdad International Airport where they were prepared for burial according to western — not Muslim — custom by military morticians. The brothers were killed by American forces in a huge and lengthy gun battle July 22 in Mosul, the northernmost Iraqi big city.

The handling of the bodies, including autopsies conducted by the military, touched off a controversy throughout Iraq (news - web sites). Muslim tradition calls for bodies not to be embalmed or in any way retouched and for them to be buried before sundown on the day of death.

The brothers faces were heavily restored and western reporters were allowed to view them and take still pictures and videotape. Those images were flashed across the Arab world by satellite broadcasters in U.S. attempts to convince skeptical Iraqis the men were dead. Still pictures of the brothers released shortly after their deaths had raised doubts that Odai and Qusai were the men in the pictures.

Sad...my preference would have been to dice them into chewable lots and proceed to feed them to the nearest available feed lot of selected pigs.

After which, those pigs being slaughered, once Saddam is captured, force the demon saddam to consume the pig that ate his vile offspring....

Of course...that is only my opinion. ;)

This is a 1990 file photo of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein (WILL BE DEAD SOON), center seated, with his family. Seated at center left is Sajida, Hussein's wife and seated right is Hala, their youngest daughter. At the back row, from left, are Hussein Kamel (DEAD), Saddam Kamel (DEAD), his wife and Saddam Hussein's daughter Rana, Saddam's eldest son Odai (DEAD), Hussein Kamel's wife and Saddam Hussein's eldest daughter Raghad. In her arms is her son Ali ("ALI" IS NOT SADDAM'S OTHER SON - LIKE SOME HAVE THOUGHT, BUT HIS 1ST GRANDSON, HE WOULD BE AROUND 23 YEARS OLD NOW), the president's first grandson. Man at far right is Saddam's son Qusay (DEAD). Raghad and Rana Hussein and their nine children received refuge (ALI ALSO?) Thursday July 31, 2003 in Jordan on humanitarian grounds, Information Minister Nabil al-Sharif said. Raghad's and Rana's husbands, brothers Lt.Gen. Hussein Kamel and Saddam Kamel, defected to Jordan in 1995 and announced plans to work to overthrow Saddam. The two, who also were Saddam's cousins, were lured back to Iraq (news - web sites) in February 1996 and killed on Saddam's orders. (AP Photo/HO)

The woman with the yellow blouse is (was) Qusai's wife. They forgot to ID her in the photo description above.

Thanks for clearing that up. From the picture on post#8 I thought it was his penis. Mercy!

I hope someone had the foresight to try and use bacon grease as a body preservative ... you know, to cut down on the smell and stuff.
