We should welcome Cuban refugees to our shores regardless of how they arrive here. The last thing we should be doing is help Castro oppress his own people.

Good. I think there must have been some negative public reaction to the most recent returns (the ones who were sent back to jail sentences and the guys in the truck) and that perhaps the policy will be changed in some way.
I realize that one of the fears is that Castro will launch another Mariel type exodus, clearing out his prisons and mental institutions, and overwhelming social services in Florida. But there's got to be some way of preventing him from doing this while at the same time saving people who have risked their lives to get here.
The best way of all, of course, would be to get rid of Castro, but that doesn't seem likely any time soon.
