Greenberg's good to go. I've read a lot of good things about him, and seen him on TV a time or two.

had all seven of the guns he owns confiscated by the police until their investigation is complete.

That sucks. I hope he has one cached somewhere.

From the article it sounded like he was planning on re-arming as soon as possible. That's a good thing, since I doubt that he'll ever see any of the confiscated guns again -- though that a black man is now completely unable to defend himself against armed drug dealers should make a lot of liberals very happy.

Didn't see his race mentioned in the article. Did I miss something?

Looks like the "homies" are gonna be pourin' out a little of the 40's for the other homies that didn't make it.

Police said Friday they don't know yet whether the three men, all of whom previously have been in trouble with the law for drugs, will be charged with any crimes.

Gee, it seems pretty obvious that all three of them need to be charged with trespassing, for starters.

i>Gates is said to have hit two of them

2 hit for 3 shots, at night in the middle of a firefight. Not bad, not bad at all. Still room for improvement of course. 3 dead for 3 shots is the ideal to aim for for.

The police had no business confiscating this guy's guns. If he's not even suspected of a crime, and he'd have been arrested himself if there was any evidence of a crime, then he not only needs to have his guns, he has enemies you know, he has a right to keep and bear them under the US and South Carolina Constitutions (whose RKBA provision is identical to the second amendment) Did they provide a 24/7 armed guard on his house? I sort of doubt it.

This guy is a liberal's worse nightmare. A law abiding Black citizen with a gun and the will to use it to defend himself.

YALONDA M. JAMES/STAFF William Gates of West Ashley talks about how he fired a 12-gauge shotgun three times early Friday at three men who were having a shootout in his front yard. Gates apparently wounded two of the men, who he said were drug dealers.

his 12-gauge Browning automatic shotgun

One of my favorites, with an adjustable choke. Had a matching set. 12g and 20g years ago.

Accordiing to the story one was probably already down before Gates started firing. As for dead vs. wounded, the article doesn't say what kind of shells he had in his gun. But since he is a hunter it may well have been birdshot. I have a feeling if it was buckshot they would be dead.

I just composed a short note to Mr. Gates. I don't have the full address or the zip but I'm sending it to

William Gates
Tripe Street
West Ashley
South Carolina.

If someone knows more of his address send it to me. Especially the Zip Code.

Reuben Greenberg is a liberal's worst nightmare too:

Successful police chief Reuben Greenberg of Charleston, South Carolina, said in a June, 1994 interview with Rush Limbaugh:

You know, the root causes of crime were supposed to be poverty, unemployment, a poor education, this, that, and the other. Yet 90% of the people with those same characteristics, both blacks and whites, somehow never wound up in the criminal justice system. So I started orienting ourselves toward the protection of those who follow the rules and regulations of society, rather than those who would victimize other people in the community. It is not an excuse to say, "Well I came from the wrong side of town, and I am black, and my great-grandfather was owned by this person." Yeah, that’s true, but these other guys had great-grandfathers who were owned by this person as well, but they are not criminals. They are out working and paying taxes.
The first step in restoring law and order is to recognize that a lack of money and opportunity does not cause crime. A lack of values causes crime. Only by firmly focusing on the real cause can a solution be achieved."

I lived in W.A. for about 6 years, the last 2 less than a mile up from Tripe St. My kids went to school just a few blocks away. It's too bad that neighborhood has gotten crappier.

Thanks to the two freepers that helped me with the address. I normally just look that stuff up myself but I've been remodeling a bathroom since Thursday and had to finish it before I went back to work on Sunday.

Yes, it came out nicely because my wife picked out the colors and I did the work. If you try it any other way it's gonna suck when it's done.
