"They mindlessly mouth the free-trade mantra without a review of history or a consideration of the consequences. Logic and reasoned argument only brings foaming at the mouth taunts.
I am almost to the point of concluding that they are intentionally advocating a course of action that will destroy the US? Why? I don't know. Maybe they do really value cheaper cars over US economic sovereignty. Very discouraging."
I could not have said it any better. I am affraid you are right on the money.

Well, thanks, but there are many that would dispute that. And I'm 100% red-white-and-blue American.

I remember that he joined GMs board after EDS was purchased by them. He clashed with Roger Smith, and decided to leave the board after his GM stock was purchased at a premium to the market. In other words, he took millions in exchange for keeping his mouth shut. So I am not impressed by arguments that he would never sell out; he's proven otherwise.

...the Republicans as well as the Democrats are in bed together when it comes to the Washington lobbyists.Agreed. The American public as a whole seems to be more interested in their televisions and mindless amusements than the real issues facing our economy. Or in taking a serious look at what our government has become...a bunch of shills available to the highest bidder.
We have yet to have another real depression where upwards of 20% of the work force is unemployed (and that was men,as women were not a substantial part of the working environ back then). We'll have no safety net this time, as we've already given up the gold and silver standards, and we're deeply in hock.
