Stephen King to have regular column in Entertainment Weekly
BANGOR (AP) -- Stephen King loves Arnold Schwarzenegger in the third "Terminator" movie but Celine Dion took it on the chin in is first regular column for Entertainment Weekly.
King calls Schwarzenegger "the perfect machine." As for Dion, he says he thinks "Who Let the Dogs Out" is better than the sum of her work.
King's comments appear in the magazine's Aug. 8 edition. It marks King's first regular column since his days at the University of Maine student newspaper, where he had a fixture called "King's Garbage truck."
King's new column is called "The Pop of King." It will be an opinion column on pop culture and take a look at books, movies, TV, music and more.
The magazine editor calls it "opinionated, surprising, current and passionate."

Is there a big audience for King's opinion? I couldn't be less interested in what he thinks.

His fiction is better than his column.

He is as anti-Bush as Howard Dean, whome he now supports for President. . .
I think I read that. . .
That does it for me. . .as far as his opinions are concerned.

Being the country's greatest novelist and political opinions seldom go together.

Stephen King also defended Billy Jeff during the impeachment proceedings with the wrath of Cujo, and gave Clinton $5k-$10k for his legal defense fund. In the few guest lectures I've seen on C-Span, King constantly rails against "those rich Republicans" (by the way, I believe Mr. King pulls down a paltry $25 million a year)....hmmmmm
I used to be a big fan of his, but he lost me once he started: 1) politicizing all his novels with the usual left-wing tripe after he made it to Number One, and 2) his novels began to grow to 1000-page snores at that time because no editor dared to take a red pen and cut out all the extraneous text.

King gets $ 40 million a year on royalties of past works alone (per ET), and this does not count any new stuff he writes. He is thus a billionaire and the last one to be throwing stones at the wealthy.
Still, an unparalleled novelist...

The funny thing is I really do like his Western epic. He's finished it and its as good as the one J.R.R Tolkien wrote. I can't wait to find out what really happened when Roland Deschain arrived at The Dark Tower.

Regardless of his political views, I would have to agree with you there. He has provided me with many hours of fun entertainment and awe. "The Shining" will always be immortalized as one of the most terrifying books of all time that scared the living h*ll out of me. Brilliant from first page to last.

is better than the sum of her work. That means so much coming from possibly the worst hack to ever set pen to paper...
