[history]
While White House and national GOP officials insist they won't get involved in the California recall, a memo obtained by The Chronicle outlines a Republican strategy to oust Gov. Gray Davis and help President Bush before the 2004 presidential election.

Norm-The liberal SF Chronicle would not have published this unless they thought it would hurt the GOP. Based on their recent editorials they are solidly behind Davis. They hope the recall can be avoided. If they cannot get that then they want it delayed until March or the terms changed so they favor Davis more. The paper is nothing but an arm of the Democratic Party.

Is the Davis recall election a winner for the GOP?
If Davis is ousted for a Republican, the new governor still faces an Assembly run by and for democrats, and state government officers who are uniformly democrat. This has the earmarks of a ceremonial president wherein power resides elsewhere.
Would it not be better to let the electorate stew in the juices of their own ballot box behavior until the next scheduled election time arrives?
Now that the seal is broken on Pandora's Box, no election in California is likely to be final until the recall law is rewritten. It's too easy to conjure one up.
In the even of a GOP "win," the lucky incumbent gets to singlehandedly engineer and ram through draconian spending cuts for a state accustomed to soft socialism. When the 2004 election rolls around, the California voter will be blaming the GOP for diminished state services and any other albatross Willie Brown drapes on their heads. California will need a miracle worker who can perform without a constituency -- no candidate on a ballot with fifty others running is likely to get a majority vote.
Face it, dude. San Francisco is its own reward.

This is just typical Carla Maranucci attempting to be some big investigative reporter, always looking for BIG news against the GOP.
As the story notes Julie was doing this as a volunteer to rally people, which is what she does best.
By the way Julie is an active Freeper, but my guess is that she would prefer to remain anonymous.
