My analysis: the only vote I care about now is the one people do with their feet.

Here is my analysis. I basically took East Coast States (touching the coast plus a few like PA), West Coast States (touching the water) and then Central (everything else). The others are either other countries or cities which I did not recognize.

CHOICE EAST CENTRAL WEST OTHER
YES 25 22 12 3
NO 14 19 1 9
In Favor 64% 53% 92% 25%

I expected the Central percentage to be under 50% so this is kind of surprising. However, nine of the 22 Central 'Yea' votes were from Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. There are only 2 'Nay' votes from the same 5 states.

Dropping those 5 states would yield a 13 to 17 vote or 43% in favor which is what I expected. (Didn't realize those states were that much more liberal than the south-central part of the country.)

in a state with five seats in congress isn't one a democrat? I would be very nervous about all the folks from Calif who left to go skiing and never returned. In five more years conservatives may not be any more powerful in elections than they are in the election of the Bishop for Utah. Someone voted for her and I am well aware of her background.

By the way...my unknowns are as follows:

Yes:
Navajoland Area Mission (Arizona?)
Easton (No idea!)
Convocation of American Churches in Europe (NON US)

No:
Quincy (No idea!)
Eau Claire (No idea!)
San Joaquin (No idea!)
Virgin Islands (NON US)
Honduras (NON US)
Haiti (NON US)
Dominican Republic (NON US)
Taiwan (NON US)
Ecuador (NON US)

If you can help identify these questionable ones, I can update the chart.

Curry, Michael – North Carolina

This guy is black, and a helluva preacher. I thought he'd be really good for the Episcopal church, but he voted "yes" like a good boy, down on the liberal plantation. How much you want to bet that the "yes" voters are all the pro-abortion ones too?

Convocation of American Churches in Europe (NON US)

There are some dioceses that are outside of the US that are considered part of the Episcopal church, I don't know why. The important thing is that the representative of this area was the diabolical Frank Griswold, also the presiding bishop of the ECUSA, a flaming liberal, and probably the driver of all this shit.

Hey Kids! I know, lets play "Beat the Bishop"!!!!! (Is that hate speech?)

That would not shock me. Error begets error.

I think you're right. How else would you explain UTAH's having a liberal, female bishop?

Another good point. Perhaps Episcopalians in conservative areas were more likely to have left the ECUSA before today, and Episcopal churches in those areas moved more quickly to the left than Episcopal churches in liberal areas.

Updated. I believe all the Other category is outside of the United States. Thanks for the help guys!

CHOICE EAST CENTRAL WEST OTHER
YES 26 22 12 2
NO 14 21 2 9
In Favor 65% 51% 86% 18%

The central is closer to 50% now which is more of what I expected. Interesting thoughts on this thread. (I enjoy statistics!)

There is one democrat -- A Mormon, and son of a very popular former governor. He represents the part of Salt Lake that is the least Mormon/furthest left. Salt Lake City, itself, is the least conservative past of the state, except Park City, where the hoi polloi from out of state have bought their expensive ski chalets.

Bush got 70+ percent of the vote here. In 1992, Clinton came in third, after Bush I and Perot. It may change someday, but, for now, I think it will stay conservative. For every liberal skier that moves into the state, I suspect there are a couple of conservative Mormons fleeing the madness in California and coming back home to Utah.
