Anyone that thinks that fly over country won't vote for a crazy idea just has to look at this list; Utah, Kansas, S. Dakota, Wyoming etc. This should give conservative republicans a scare.

Utah, Kansas, S. Dakota, Wyoming etc

I think that in some of these communities, people join the Episcopal Church specifically to assert their "difference" from other, more conservative protestants - - so the Episcopal Church is more liberal than the community as a whole. Just my theory ...

That explains the adverse reaction here in Oklahoma -- the moron voted for the gay! Wonder how long he is going to remain head of the Oklahoma group of churches?

The "bishop" from Utah is a woman who left the Mormon church over issues like abortion. She is undoubtedly completely leftist in her leanings, and very unrepresentative of the majority of people in this state.

Winterrowd, William J. – Colorado

I believe I read that he originally asked for the decision to be made in "executive session" - but was voted down. Maybe he didn't relish having his diocese know how he would vote?

I tried to separate this list into a regional list for analysis. It may not be perfect, but the original was missing some information (i.e. some cities do not include a state, some are groups or associations, etc.) I think should be adequate for us to look at.

Read the list and then give your analysis, Freepers.

"Anyone that thinks that fly over country won't vote for a crazy idea just has to look at this list.."

All the voters are essential Liberal Bishops AND the Fudge Packers are ~2.6% of the population, under every rock, North, South, East and West.....

Well, if the South had won the Civil War - so the Southern Bishops hadn't been on hand at this convention -- the gay bishop wouldn't have had many no votes, that's for sure.

I think that you are right in stating that members of the Episcopal church tend to be much less conservative. I know people who left the Episcopal church back in the '80s, as it moved more and more left.

OMG, I can't believe some of those who voted 'yes' - Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma. I can understand how Arkansas voted 'yes'. Where is the one for New Mexico? With Oklahoma going to the Dark Side and New Mexico harboring RAT criminals, Texas should secede asap.
