ESSEX -- The residents of Weed Road in Essex are angry. You just might have a hard time finding them to ask why. The street signs at both ends of Weed Road have been stolen at least five times this summer. Police are investigating the incidents, as well as other cases of stolen and damaged markers around town. Missing and damaged signs threaten public safety and cost the town money, said Todd Law, assistant director of the Public Works Department.

Well, I think the cops should 'roll' on this, smoke 'em out, and send some people to the Joint

Reward: $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person ( or persons ) who stole the signs. Punishment of those convicted: $5,000 fine.
To: Rodney King
They should mass market the signs on E-bay to pay for the stolen ones.

In my neck of the woods, the Roachtown Road sign has never been stolen but the Bugger Road sign has gone missing a few times.

Well you know northern California has it's reputation. Just south of the Oregon border is a little town called Weed (least it was little when I was last through there 35 years ago). From time to time I see pictures on the internet of travelers posing under one of the big "Weed" signs on the freeway. I suppose they need replaced now and then too, though these signs are rather large.

They could make a killing with tourism and sovenouirs. In addition to fines for the stoner vandals.
Some legal statements of defense for the stoner vandals, used by another criminal
-I tried to steal a sign but did not inhale.
-I did not have vandalizing relations with that road sign.
-What is is? I really don't remember.
-It's the name of the town, stupid

You think 'Weed' has a hard time keeping it's road signs, think about this town in Austria.

Missing and damaged signs threaten public safety and cost the town money, said Todd Law, assistant director of the Public Works Department. Maybe the Public Works Department should make extra signs and sell them. That would turn a budget cost into a profit. They could probably sell thousands on E-Bay and in High Time magazine.

Well the local chapter of the Libertarian party needs something to unite around for their gatherings at Denny's.
The only problem is that they forget the sign after the meeting and have to get a new one.
