Homelessness in major cities is escalating as more laid-off workers already living paycheck-to-paycheck wind up on the streets or in shelters.

As Americans file for bankruptcy in record numbers and credit card debt explodes, more workers are a paycheck away from losing their homes. Now the frail economy is pushing them over the edge. With 9 million unemployed workers in July, the face of homelessness is changing to include more families shaken by joblessness.

Sounds like what I used to read in the 1980s and early 19902. Then, magically, poof! No more mentions of homelessness until the last couple of years. Now, why could that be?

Btw, any fool who claims that homelessness just suddenly ends during Democrat administrations and resumes under Republican ones clearly has never spent any time in San Francisco.

There was no homelessness during the Clinton administration. Everyone knows this.

It will be in the papers today and I will send you the headline

It's in the papers today. From the Denver Post: A crowd of about 100 protesters stood outside the Wings Over the Rockies Museum, their view of the president blocked by strategically parked buses.

Oh, come on. They were probably paid to be there. The Rats were just doing there part for the homeless.

. . . there were over 4000 protesters outside with signs that read, "Where is my job?".

As if the President is going to provide them all with a means to earn a living. Unless all 4,000 of these people had sent in resumes for positions on the White House staff, they were wasting their time.

When did George Bush start hiring Chinese and Indians? Is this on his ranch?

I looked like more than 100 to me and from what I heard on the radio, it was 4k. Either way 350 show up for bush and 100 are there against, man can he draw a crowd or what?

Exactly. President Bush will ensure that we are never attacked again in any meaningful way - the saudi scum have got the message now!

he hasn't hired them, but he has allowed big business to send the jobs overseas, actually having our people here, US Citizens train the scum from overseas and the president has done nothing, neither has the rest of our government all the while the amount of unemployment goes up, the deficit goes up and the president sits silent.

You must have heard wrong, this is from the 8/12/03 Denver Post:

"A crowd of about 100 protesters stood outside the Wings Over the Rockies Museum, their view of the president blocked by strategically parked buses.

"The protesters, critiquing everything from the war in Iraq to high unemployment, waved signs such as ones reading "Bush lied, thousands died," and "Impeach Bush."

"Within five minutes of Bush's departure from Lowry, rain started falling and a double rainbow appeared a few minutes later. Bush's plane lifted off from DIA at 7:10 p.m."

According to your figures that means the Bush contributors outnumbered the leftists 3-1. No mention of any 4,000. And they certainly don't sound like they were half Republican, either.

Time to check your meds.

A bank taking your home would be your problem. National security is everyone's.

Bush is not sending jobs to India and China. Why don't they go protest at IBM? (answer: because they are Democrats and it's an election year)

Wasting their time until election day, you see the nice thing about the United States, you can be dumb, poor and a loser but you still get to vote. Some of the rich folks here need to remember that. You can have all the money in the world but a pissed off populace will get you moved out of the white house by Atlas van lines.

The news is the truth. And it is bad. Whining about your dislike of the messenger changes nothing.

Grow up and face facts.

So why did you give Bush $2000, since you said you were one of the 350 there...?

I was there, friends of mine who are registered repubs, former software engineers, were protesting while I was inside. BTW, make fun of me all you want, it just shows you lack of emotional intelligence.
