WASHINGTON (AP) - Some 200 American troops could move ashore in Liberia if rebels fighting there abandon the country's port, the Pentagon said Wednesday.
The U.S. forces would include elements to serve as liaison to African peacekeepers, Navy SEALS to make sure the waterway is secured and engineers to assess the port for delivery of humanitarian aid.

This bothers me....
That sucking sound I hear is the USMC getting dragged into a real quagmire. Something that would make Iraq look like a tough quarterly road march by comparison.

Please. 200,000 troops in Iraq vs. 200 troops in Liberia... Totally different. 200 in Liberia is 200 to much. We have no national interest in Liberia. Lets hope it stays at 200 and those 200 leave soon, if they arrive.

Hey folks, my son is a naval officer with one of those ships. The Marines have been on those ships since Febuary, they were unhappy when they didn't get in the fight in Iraq. My son tells me these guys need to shoot somebody to take away the stress. Put them on shore to clean up the mess. Go Marines!
