"Utah ACLU Hopes to Find Religion," the Salt Lake Tribune reported last week. But what sounded like a miracle was actually just a headline writer having fun.

Here's the story: During the 1950s and '60s, the nondenominational Fraternal Order of Eagles donated nine Ten Commandments monuments to various Utah cities. In the 1970s the ACLU began an effort to remove them from public property.

The ACLU theophobes believe the only state sanctioned and supported philosophy ought to be secular humanism (and liberalism and its various wacko strands).

The ACLU makes the claim that it is privately funded by grants from the "Ford Foundation", other corporations, and private donations from the rich and famous such as Phil Donahue and Ed Asner.

I attempted to research the ACLU only to find it is a very secretive organization and plays the origins of it's wealth and power close to the vest.

There is an offshoot of the ACLU based in Washington D.C., if I remember right it is the ACLF that I suspect recieves tax money that it promptly funnels to the ACLU. Who can be sure? You won't find any investigative reporters willing to investigate or expose the ACLU and that sends up a red flag that it must be the ultimate in corruption.
