Holy crap! I didn't even know Gray Davis was visiting those areas.

Brace yourselves, folks. This may be terrorism. Heck, I don't know, but it sure looks suspicious!

I hope it's some innocent thing such as a freak accident. On the other hand....
Just call me paranoid, LOL!

People were asked not to run anything other that airconditioners during the day, guess they did not listen and now must suffer the consequence...

Wonder whether this has any connection with the computer virii that have been spreading recently.
I remember the summer before 9-11-01 that there was a rash of computer viruses. I contracted 2 different ones that June and August.
This power outage is covering a very extensive area.

What heat? I'm in NC and we're having the coldest summer I've seen in 20 years... the most rain also. It might be 85 out today and it's usually around 100 this time of year.
Even cooler further north.

Yep, ConEd fire. Detroit airport closed, all five boroughs in NYC without power. We flickered alot here in NJ but so far we still have power.Gonna be a long, hot night...

The Hartford, Connecticut area seems to be okay. About 10 after 4 the lights dimmed briefly but that was all.I hear, though, that the western part of the state is out.

I am old enough to remember the great blackout of 1965, that was big. This could be bigger.

Shades of the day the light went out. I have had a couple of power interuptions this afternoon. I would really like more information is the area contiguous as in one failure spread or is it simultaneous or roughly so and spread out over differnent secitions of the grid?
