CHARLESTON, W. Va. A man and a woman were fatally shot during two separate incidents outside Kanawha County convenience stores late Thursday, four days after another man was killed in a similar incident.
Police said the deaths appeared to be random shootings.
At about 10:20 p.m. Thursday, a woman was shot while pumping gas at a SuperAmerica store in Campbells Creek. The second fatal shooting happened a little more than an hour later and 10 miles away outside a Go-Mart in Cedar Grove on U.S. 60.
Lt. J.S. Bailes, Kanawha County sheriff's spokesman, had few details about George Carrier Jr. 34, of South Charleston, was shot in the head and killed Sunday night while using a pay telephone outside a Charleston Go-Mart.
Late Thursday, police across the area were alerted to increase patrols around stores with gas pumps. Police are looking for a black pickup truck with gold trim seen leaving the Cedar Grove store and a dark-green or blue Chevrolet Corsica from the Campbells Creek shooting.
Kanawha County sheriff's deputies were questioning store employees and customers late Thursday but would not release any further information.

What's really odd about this is I took a job for a few months away from my wife and kids about this time last year (out of state). At about this time last year was when the previous sniper incident began. I can't believe it's happening again. May it not be so drawn out this time by catching the perps quickly.

Heck of a lot of 'random' these days, isn't there?
I do hope that 'random' is the correct assumption in these shootings however.

They were all random victims randomly shot in the head with the same random caliber bullet while all randomly stopped at random convenience stores.

But this random shooter may have picked on the wrong state this time. By nightfall tonight every convenience store in the state will be surrounded by "good ole boys" just out for an evening "stroll".

The last I knew, none of the elites lived in West Virginia, just regular people. Therefore, there is no need to get excited.
The Media will henceforth pan this story unless they want to play it up as a "gun control" issue. If they do it will become headlines.

gun control in WV. is defined as hitting what you are aiming at
WV, is a good ole boy state,
This sniper won't last long.
Born in that part of the state, moved to N.VA. soon after, went to college in the S.WVA.
Not uncommon for most people to have guns in WV.

So its probably like Colorado? I vacationed in Colorado a couple month's back. The crime is so low there that they leave their doors and windows unlocked.

"Random shooting" seems random only to the victim and the witnesses and family.
From the perp's viewpoint these are meticulously planned events.
The news media tries to make crime seem like weather, something that happens, sometimes. The alternative is to focus attention on the criminal and the chain of deliberate decisions that have to be made to commit a crime.
But that would sound too much like "responsibility" and make it hard to blame "society" (you and me).
I pray that they catch the random people doing this.

I've had one since I was 12 and I'm a WV girl! Shot my expert at summer camp with it that same year. Don't mess with a WV gal.
To: ConservativeMan55
That would be nice. Remember the "law school" shooting a few years ago? Two students got handguns and faced the guy down, ending the random event.
Time, Newsweek, and all the Gannett papers left that part out, but included the names of the hero students. Lots of detail of the gun the random shooter used, though!

To: ConservativeMan55
West Virginia is a "shall issue" state, and lots of people have guns. Furthermore, there are places in WV, although mostly away from populated areas, where you can carry openly without fear of harrassment from law enforcement. I have heard of one guy carrying openly in Morgantown though without being stopped by police or questioned. I would guess that nearly 85-90% have guns here, but that is just from personal observation, not from any statistics I've seen. Non-gun-owners, as a rule, are few and far between.
I would not be surprised, if this is a "serial sniper", if he gets his just deserts at the hands of an armed, alert citizen.
If that does happen, expect it to be buried by the national media.
