Thank you for the compliment. That insight was not anywhere near as brilliant as it appeared--I used to sell advertising for a living, and I'd sometimes make the point to reluctant customers that if TV and the other media had no real effect on folks, there were a whole lot of companies buying ad time that hadn't heard about it. Then I'd relate it to print (my particular domain): "Companies are concerned about what the public might be said about them in "the papers" because people read the papers, and if you're ad's there, they'll read that, too."

My boss had been selling print ads for twenty years and taught me more about sales in my first week than I'd known up until then. One of the reasons I got out was because I figured if he couldn't make me a great salesman, nobody could.
