That's just one slice of life in urban America. Other slices that are just as rotten are education, social work, policing, etc.

Excellent sleuthing! Sounds like the Times, or someone at the Times, was looking for an excuse to can him and they finally found one.Thanks. I'm sure you're right. Imagine -- after 25 years, it's just "clear out your desk, right now."
On a ship, in a prison, at the NYT -- you dummy up. Whiteside just learned that.
That's some heavy parallel, but unfortunately, you're right. Reminds me of when I taught college.

Hee hee!! If the NYT had any consideration for its employees, it would provide free bags for them to wear over their heads when coming and going from the building.

This is a very good read. Newspapers are dying a slow death. Propaganda machines like the Times are dying more quickly. Justice is perverse, the liberals cling to defending a public education system which does not prepare its students to read much of anything whether it be news or propaganda, and it is the failure of that they defend that will be their undoing. That is the most succinct description of the death rattle of the modern American newspaper I've yet seen. I would add only, that papers go out of their way to pander to people who don't even read newspapers, at the same time that they go out of their way to insult those who do.

BTW, since hip-hop interests are involved in a lawsuit against Gottlieb, one wonders whether Holloway's misreporting was sloppy news-gathering, or an effort to doubleteam the case for the hip-hoppers.That's an intriguing angle; I'm familiar with reporters fixing lawsuits for their friends.

I love it! And the Letterman show has been showing reruns of shows from May and June, so just about every night there's a zinger at the Times' expense.

Great graphics! Now someone has to come up parallels for the NYT, 'cause long after the Chicks have been forgotten, the chumps of W. 43rd St. (soon to be West 50th Street) will still be around.

Rose, have you seen this? And note that the 25-year veteran was immediately fired for an unknown remark that a passerby "construed" to be anti-Semitic.
