I am currently a second year teacher in search of a new career. Much of what you have all stated is so true. There is so much pressure put on the teacher. Teachers are forced to work harder and held more accountable while students are not being held accountable. Things go on in the district that I would never have dreamed would ever happen. I am only 7years out of high school and none of the behaviors were tolerated when I was in school. Students lack motivation and they have a lack of interest, a lack of accountability, a lack of discipline, and a huge lack of respect for teachers. They make fun of you as a teacher, they think you are a big joke. When a student fails, first the student blames the teacher. Second the parents blame the teacher. Then was as educators have to work overtime to get a kid back on track when in reality it is the student who chose to not do his work, be lazy, and do poorly in the first place. Why do we have to work harder and put so much effort out for a kid who could care less about his future or his education? I don't think that I will have any regrets of leaving the "profession" I just hope that my next job will be more suited to my needs.
