Yes...she just can't respond because the husband has NOT allowed any Rehabilliatation Treatment in all these years!!!
} If you could see the pictures...she follows a baloon...she looks at her mother and tries to respond....she is NOT in a coma......her husband is the Epitome of EVIL.
To: trussell
Her death by starvation is scheduled to begin Monday!!I have never heard of anything more inhumane! I'm sure her husband doesn't want her priest to see her crying for food.

,,, thanx for that. It's much more evil than I thought.

Florida needs to know the whole world is watching!

well, I tell ya, I am mostly not in favor of feeding tubes and articficial life extension ....but...
generally, once you keep a person alive, its unethical to simply withdraw treatment, especially since its fairly simple treatment such as a feeding tube...
I wonder how "mike" has any standing, because in reality he has already divorced his wife by living with another woman and producing a child...
Anybody remember the movie with Denzel Washington where he took over the hospital room until his kid got the needed treatment?
well, it's a good thing for Mikey that there are no folks out there willing to go to the room , barricade it, and keep Mikey out.....
I wouldn't advocate trying to maintain her life, if it is true that Mikey has the POA....but, wouldn't it be at least a decent goodbye to that poor woman to have her parents and her priest at her bedside, singing songs of faith and love to her, while she passes into the next great world...
of course, that is more of a movie scenario....I am sure it would never, ever happen....

How long do the experts say that this starvation period will last for Teri?
To: sarasmom; trussell
I don't suppose anyone has video taped Terri. It would help if the family and their priest could prove that Terri is responsive.
Too, I think I'd do some fast, firm talking to the hospital's administrator, doctors & nurses. And Jeb Bush would definitely get plenty of calls, faxes, e-mails. Last I heard, even brain-damaged murderers are not executed in most states.
Prayers have begun.

Malanowski filed an affidavit "describing how one St. Patrick's Day he visited Terri and told her he was going to sing 'When Irish Eyes are Smiling' in Polish. And she started laughing. She got the humor, she understood. This brings tears to my eyes.
Terri is clearly responsive, and could be helped greatly by an aggressive program of mental stimulation. But her husband has refused to allow it.
I cannot understand the evil of this man who wants Terri to be a 'vegetable' so he may more easily starve her to death -- and the evil of the judges who abet this crime.
Prayers going out for Terri and her parents, and for all who are helping her.
To: Sandylapper
I don't know but I would bet that she could last for two weeks....no kidding....

If the husband is tired of the situation, why not just divorce her and let her family care for her. As it stands now, it's legalized murder.

I had not heard of this situation before ... so maybe I shouldn't be so quick to react BUT what's motivating the husband? Money? Insurance money? Another woman? Sick of dealing with the situation? What? Something is.

At least 2 weeks, maybe more, depending on her physical condition which, I imagine, is not good. I do believe she will react to hunger. That's why I find this so inhumane. Her husband probably thinks she will react, too, and that's why he doesn't want the priest there.

I've heard about this for awhile and it is beyond sad .

This is insane. Something needs to be done. Where in the h*** is Jeb Bush???

I cannot begin to tell you how upset those of us that are careproviders for loved ones with severe brain damage and feeding tubes are.
She could be out enjoying life if her parents had her.
There are plenty of us here that have provided access to full active lives of those we care for. So the idea of what is going on with Terri so close to home it is an absolute nightmare to know what is about to happen.
The message if any is if your husband is abusive get the hell out NOW!
He had no problem attempting murder on her once (so the story goes) does not feel a damn bit bad about doing it again.
God forgive me but I hope he gets payback instanly and suffers a thousand times worse.
Sick SOB Teri cannot even physically defend herself this time.
If anyone has the phone number handy please Freep mail me.

Thanks for the link. I signed the petition to Gov. Bush & sent it on to my friends and family. Hope we open a big can of worms.

If the husband is tired of the situation, why not just divorce her and let her family care for her. As it stands now, it's legalized murder.Well, first of all, their is all the insurancer money he recieved. Second of all, there is a very good chance, with the proper treatment she could be a witness in court some day...
