There was once a governor who threatened to use the National Guard to defend the 10 Commandments, just a few years ago. The fact that they fear fines only helps prove that the federal court is dangerous and tyrannical-- it must be put in its place.

why is that??? all over the country, you hear of communities trying to force legal businesses out of business because it doesn't suit "community standards" so how can the feds enforce something that is clearly constitutional and is in good standing with state standards?

"Oh please. That's just stupid."

Never said that morality was invented in the Old Testament or New. . .

We can give credit to the Greeks for upgrading of Christianity; and in turn, Vedic scriptures et al - we can go 'round the world and back again' for earlier contributions on moral structure and behaviors.

But the Ten Commandments more immediately, reflect the Deist/Judeo/Christian beginnings of our Country. They stand as a moral reminder; a moral base for our 'laws' that distinguish good behaviors from unacceptable.

And in that context, they should be recognized and honored.

Now about rediculous. . .moral laws as the result of 'two people deciding it is better/easier to work together than not, ie common sense?'

. . .no, think it far more simple than that.

I think we don't need the Ten Commandments anymore, they're so old fashioned

So, you wouldn't particularly offended if someone robbed and killed you? It's the hip and modern thing to do, you know.

Oh? He's established the Protestant Church in Alabama? Didn't an orthodox Jewish rabbi support him? Why didn't Moore hold him in contempt?

"Nor will you find a single instance of a Ten Commandments display in a courthouse."

To my knowledge until a couple of generations ago, we never made the serious effort to "rope off" Christianity in our culture and public arena and we did just fine....in fact better.

Does anyone really think removing God from our culture and yes to a degree our public areas coinciding with infanticide, rampant drug use, the dissolution of the family, degradation of firearm's rights and self defense etc, illegitimacy, the demonization of the culture(s) which spawned our nation etc is purely a fluke.

I sure don't. Not to say it's causative exactly but rather complimentary.

Impeachment is too good for most of the judges -- a firing squad is what comes to my mind.

You may want to get a handle on that anger. Threatening to shoot judges isn't taken too kindly by various federal and state agencies.

Jay Sekulow is trying to say something important. Why judge Moore wants to wage a political battle around a losing case instead of a winning one? He makes it impossible for the judges above him to hand him the victory - he is not following the proper process! This makes me wary... At the very least the judge should apologize for his procedural mistakes and fix as much of them as possible. Don't dupe the people into a battle without weapons!

After hearing practically the same thing 532 times, it gets pretty boring.

"The sun also rises..." - been said a million times - still true.

Are you doing that crap again? Why do you insist on running from the real issue?

The SCOTUS display you SELECTIVELY post from includes MOHAMMED. And Solon. And Hammurabi. And Justinian. And Confucious.

Moore REFUSES TO ALLOW other "sources of law" in his rotunda because nothing can be displayed in a way that might imply that it is on a par with God's Word.

One of these is religiously neutral. One is not. Can you figure out which is which?

He did not put them in in the middle of the night. It was scheduled for after work hours because of the use of cranes and the potential danger to employees. The equipment did not arrive as scheduled but came about 9:00 pm. Not the fault of the judge.

Why do these complainers feel so threatened by the monument to the Ten Commandments? Are they not confident enough in their own beliefs that they fear a monument? Do they feel their actions might make others feel uncomfortable? Why is the comfort of the complainers and protesters the only ones to be considered? What about the comfort of the ones who believe in God and believe that we have the right to put God in any place in this country as this country was created in a search for freedom of religion and with the help of that very same God?

Why do you insist on making such idiotic statements?

The SCOTUS building was built in the 1930s. Which of the Founders was involved?

Because, dear child, words mean things.

And you claimed that there was not a SINGLE INSTANCE of the Ten Commandments being on display in any courtroom.

So go check out Post #344 again. You'll find evidence that the 10 Commandments, or some semblance of them, are indeed on display in American courtrooms.

Are you Catholic, Orthodox or Jewish or Atheist?

One of those is often a characteristic amongst FReepers who oppose Moore.

If so does that guide your analysis or is your opinion derived purely from objective reasoning of your knowledge of the founder's written words or known opinions.

"The Supreme Court determines what is and isn't constitutional (see Marbury v. Madison). Congress writes the laws, the SCOTUS interprets them, the Pres. enforces them.

You are putting an awful lot of (excuse the word) faith in an institution that has reversed itself 127 times beginning with the Warren court.
