Anyone can claim to be conservative. The term can be defined however the user chooses.

I agree with Rush so far. But there are still candidates campaigning for governor of California who are without a doubt conservative...

Dunno. But it is an interesting backflip for el-Rushbo, that's for sure.

Almost like he got some phone calls from some important people telling him to go easy on Ahnold.

I'm not saying that's what happened -- just what it sounds like.

Having George Shultz in his corner is a big indicator there. Like I said before, Shultz is heavy mojo. He is a BIG GUN in the Republican arsenal.

Schwarzenegger Makes Statement on Prop. 13

“I am extremely pleased I will be able to draw upon the wisdom of my friend Warren Buffett and other giants on the world stage such as Secretary George Shultz not only during this campaign, but also once I become governor.

"Warren and I have talked about Proposition 13, and he clearly understands my strong unequivocal support for the initiative.

“I supported Proposition 13 25 years ago, and I support it today. Two months ago I was honored to serve as the keynote speaker at the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association Proposition 13 silver anniversary gala.

“Twenty-five years ago, the people rose up and demanded relief from outrageous property taxes. The politicians of California at that time were unresponsive to the people’s needs. Elderly Californians on fixed incomes were afraid that they could lose their homes. So the people showed the politicians who was the boss

“Today, we are involved in a recall election because we again have a governor and government who have been unresponsive to the needs of the people.

“This is the principal reason I decided to run for governor. I am calling together the brightest minds in the business, financial and investment communities from throughout this state and country to help put California’s economy back on track and to help me formulate my economic agenda.

“I expect many dynamic ideas and policy recommendations from my team. But with regards to my position on Proposition 13, my position is rock solid in support of that initiative.”

The presentation made yesterday was a conservative presentation. Does that aleviate his leftward leanings on other topics? I don't think so.

Look, it's possible Rush realizes exactly what Schwarzenegger is, faults and pluses. What he may be doing is trying to give Arnold a nudge toward the right. By complimenting him and and calling him a conservative, he may be trying to flatter him and convey that he thinks he's doing great, just do more of the same.

I happen to think Schwarzenegger's instincts are excellent in the business or fiscal arena. If Rush can move him in our direction perhaps some of the downside on other issues can be avoided.

I'm still hoping for a Bustamante win. Maybe that will wake up some self-proffessed "hardcore" conservatives. ;)

No. no, beat us over the head with another defeat and another Democrat in office. There was no point to the recall . . . ;)

I can't tell what Rush or Arnold is from this, since Rush seems to have changed his mind about Schwarzenegger for no apparent reason.

Before: "but his own words prove he's not a conservative"

After: Limbaugh said his new suggestion that Schwarzenegger is conservative was not based on anything the Austrian native said. "I think Schwarzenegger's natural inclinations, when he arrived in this country and who he is (I know there's the Kennedy thing there), I think that's who he is. He's afraid to be it, doesn't want to be it anymore, whatever, or has been advised he can't be it if he's going to win."

Please help me out, FairOpinion, if you think I've missed something here.

After all the smoke and rhetoric clears,
and all the predictions & accusations have left everyone numb and tired, come Oct. 7 all we can do is go with our gut.

The polls may help and a candidate or two might even check their egos at the door and drop out. But I think by then we'll each know what to do, and why we're doing it.
We all want the same thing, ultimately, don't you think?

LOL! Arnold sounds like his "inner conservative child" is itching to get out. I have yet to meet a Democrat who talked like that. You won't hear what Arnold said Wednesday from "Tough Love" Large Breasts!

This title is very misleading. Did you listen to Limbaugh today, at all? He spent three hours not doing Schwarzenegger any favors. This article hangs it's threadbare hat on the fact Limbaugh said he think Schwarzenegger started out with conservative principles- and should come back to them. But he could only come back to them, because he drifted away from them. So says Limbaugh.

Don't know. Could Ahnold be a closet conservative? Doubtful. But it's also possible the Rush knows something we don't. He probably gets a lot of inside info.

I still think this recall is a bad move. If a Repub wins, is he going to turn that behemoth around in less than 1.5 years? If he wins and doesn't, it's The Republicans' Fault. Unless the average voter is smarter than that by then. At the least, the next two years will be....interesting.

I don't think he is a conservative, but I feel for anyone that gets labelled a nazi and bigot within days of his run for office. Therefore, according to Katie Couric, he must be a Republican.

Sounds like Rush got a call from his global puppet masters. Rush has been so consummed by his wealth and success, he wouldn't know a conservative if it bit him in the EIB mic. I quit listenening to him years ago, when he allowed the queers to change his views. He has become so corrupted by money and status, he probably will be joining the CFR any day.

This endless RINO crap is the kind of thinking that is going to get Hillary elected. Rush is starting to realize that Arnold's influence would go far beyond just gov of Cal. If nothing else, he would suck the air out of all kinds of Dem candidates wherever he went.
