This is what I bring to work with me everyday for lunch. Fits in my pocket. I keep plastic forks at my desk. I also keep 1oz bags of Planters nuts around as they make good lunches too.

My lunches are very light as I am not hungry that time of day. I do have a decent breakfast and dinner - usually at home.

to the vegetarian:
god gave us meat as long as we are humane to the animals. it's sad that we aren't following that but hey, that's another issue. don't assume all meat eaters are wacko or right wing anymore than vegetarians who wear leather shoes and purses are! same cow -- different product. geesh.

anyway, i digress....

are these the same nutritionists who supported the USDA food pyramid and get their science from the newspaper? they are singing the same old song they have sung for years. aren't they the ones that also preach all the junk science that has since been proven wrong....8 glasses of water, no eggs, no fat, no salt....

atkins is not crazy. there is a wonderful endocrinologist who wrote a book:

Hypothyroidism: The Unsuspected Illness
by Broda O. Barnes, M.D., Ph.D.
& Lawrence Galton
http://www.brodabarnes.org/index.html

he was the guy that taught all the endocrinologists and did premier research. his thyroid diet is very similar to the atkins diet and was created years ago. i think he is more moderate in portions of meat but the key is veggies, meat, dairy, natural oils, regular food basically without all the carbs--breads, pastas, starchy veggies, sweets.

the author explains how alot of illnesses (heart, cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, carpal tunnel, joint issues, a whole list) are often really being caused by an underactive thyroid and when you treat the thyroid -- many of them go away. the book even tells you how to test your own thyroid function. this book was a lifesaver for my brother who was suffering from alot of them until he had his thyroid treated.
