a dog is between you and the perp, it is the moral equivalent of a houseplant if you shoot "through" it.

I've left houseplants in a hot car to die. Not quite the same as a dog in my book.

With all due respect, in my book it is.

I divide creation into two groups:

1. Man
2. Everything else

So for me, shooting at a perp with disregard for a dogs life does not even compare with shooting at a perp with disregard for an inocent human life.

But again, that is just according to my Book.
