This is not at all too late for change...it's one of the reasons I put excerpts on my site...gets lots of good feedback.
I'll have something fixed on the site within 24-48 hours.
Thanks for the constructive criticism.
Thanks for reading the others. I believe you will find this one the best of all to date...which is as it should be.
How were you able to select these few paragraphs to pique FReeper readers appetites? The rest of this particular chapter is just as riveting. I would have had a hard time culling just a representative few segments.
As always, congratulations on your continued fact-based creative inspiration. I have to honestly admit that when you first told me that you had a five-book series planned on such a deep, broad, powerful topic planned, I couldnt help but wonder how you would keep the creative juices running, and the many and varied sub-plots of such a story coherently evolving. But youre pulling it off in grand, suspenseful, Clancy-type fashion, Mr. Head.
Looking forward to chapter four.

Well, the excerpt is also posted on the site and so the intent was really to pique any readers appetite...FR always gets sort of an exclusive initial post of the same.
But anyhow, I wanted something that continued to show how this sort of asymetrical terror activity would continue to be carried out in a full scale war...and I wanted something that was exciting but did not reveal all of the even more tantalizing details contained in the entire chapter.
I couldnt help but wonder how you would keep the creative juices running, and the many and varied sub-plots of such a story coherently evolving.
LOL! I am always questioning and wondering whether or not I am successfully doing that very thing!
Thanks Joanie, as always, for your support and encouragement. It's been a long, hard...but very enjoyable and worthwhile project. As you know, my principle hope is to telegraph good, timely, patriotic and constitutional messages through the work in this time of continued terror, continued massive illegal immigration and rampant outsourcing to some of our most potential and most dangerous enemies. Unless I can somehow keep it interesting, exciting and entertaining...that will never happen.
It is my hope and prayer that I will.
I found, that in some circles, the cyclic is also referred to as the aileron and elevator. (Check here.)
Also, I decided to give these National Guard troops a Blackhawk (I called it out as a Huey in the body of the excertp) and then rewrod that section to account for all of this and hopefully remove any confusion.
Here's how it looks now.
The blast from the second ultra-light also expanded to the rear, and threw shrapnel behind it right into the path of the oncoming National Guard helicopter. As the pilot madly adjusted his collective, cyclic and stabilator controls to avoid the blast by climbing over and around it, the shock wave struck the helicopter and jammed both his cyclic and stabilator controls into position. It also severely damaged the tail rotor. At the same instant, shrapnel blasted through the compartment, killing the pilot and severely wounding the co-pilot.What do you think?
With the aircraft locked into its current attitude, the tail rotor tearing itself apart, and the helicopter beginning to spin wildly , the Blackhawk impacted the side of the Washington Monument, five feet below the doomed Secret Service detail leader and the remainder of his team, who were mercifully, quickly incinerated by the fire and blast that raced through their observation deck.
That collaborative on-line ad is still being used today, HERE.
You can read more exceprts from the entire series ...HERE.
Just click on the various book covers to go to their individual page where the excerpts are listed. There are ten altogether.
Best regards. I believe you will like this volume as much if not more than all of the others. Lot's of action and the plot thickens.
The entire series has come from an outline that was originally put together for a single book. But when I found how many pages that single book was going to wind up being if I went into all of the detail I anticipated...I had to make a decision, either cut content or make more books. I opted for the the entire series.
Good job, Chief!
Volumes I-III are available now on Amazon, or on Barnes & Noble, or on Books a Million and elsewhere. Just make sure you indicate the right format (ie. printed Trade Paperback version) becasue I have all volumes in printed and eBook format.
Volume IV is coming out as quick as I can get it written, proofed and published (self-published that is), slated for November. Volume V should be out in the Spring of 2005.
Please let me know what you think. I have many, many reader's quotes POSTED HERE.
Well, Tom Clancy has numbers behind his name that I would be happy to see 1/1000th of.
On the other hand...I'm continually amazed at the readership these self-published books have generated and am gratified that the vast majority of people reading them thoroughly enjoy the reads and see the intent and messages I have in writing them.
It's all been word of mouth pretty much to date with a lot of help from family, relatives, friends (both on FR and elsewhere) and I am content to leave whatever measure of success they attain in God's hands and attribute it all to Him.
