MD, Yeah it is. It is based on psycho-science, and belief. Like the banning of freon which was sold as a benefit to mankind, but based on the end of copyright {freon} for BIG business. The "new" copyright is owned by the same "old" companies {DuPont et al}. Peace and love, George.

I think global warming *is* like a religion to some. People say "I believe in global warming". While the earth has warmed & may be warming now, I see it as natural, not caused by man. But then I am not a climatologist & I just stayed in a Holiday Inn a few times.

Global warming IS a religion... or more appropriately, a cult.

If I were to see some hard, conclusive evidence of the claims made by the global warming crowd, I would feel much the same way they do--- that we as humans need to put some restraints upon ourselves before irreparable harm is done to Earth.

But, I haven't seen that evidence, the most conclusive evidence I have seen contradicts the "global warmingists" arguments, and the Earth has proven to be much more resilient than a lot of men would like to admit.

Yet if recent global warming is largely a result of natural climate variability, policies to reduce global warming would be unnecessary, costly and ineffective. Before we are asked to incur the pain, we should better understand whether there would be any gain.

During the past 2 years, more than 17,100 basic and applied American scientists, two-thirds with advanced degrees, have signed the Global Warming Petition.

Specifically declaring:

"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate."

Signers of this petition so far include 2,660 physicists, geophysicists, climatologists, meteorologists, oceanographers, and environmental scientists (select this link for a listing of these individuals) who are especially well qualified to evaluate the effects of carbon dioxide on the Earth's atmosphere and climate.

Signers of this petition also include 5,017 scientists whose fields of specialization in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and other life sciences (select this link for a listing of these individuals) make them especially well qualified to evaluate the effects of carbon dioxide upon the Earth's plant and animal life.

Nearly all of the initial 17,100 scientist signers have technical training suitable for the evaluation of the relevant research data, and many are trained in related fields.
