AP Wire story:

Three small blasts near Chiron plant in Emeryville
Associated Press

Three explosions jarred Emeryville this morning at the headquarters of Chiron, an international pharmaceutical research firm.

Authorities say the first bomb went off around 3 a.m. and the second at 4 a.m..

The third blast, shortly before 7 a.m., was the Alameda County bomb squad detonating a suspicious package found near the facility. The package turned out to be harmless.

Company officials say damage from the two early-morning blasts is minimal and nobody has been hurt.

No claim of responsibility has been reported.

Police say the blasts occurred outside the Chiron facility, not inside.

Chiron employees have been told to say home until 1 p.m..
