[history]
In a front-page story Tuesday on the President and his compassionate conservative agenda, the New York Times said that, "some religious supporters of Mr. Bush say they feel betrayed by promises he made as a candidate and now, they maintain, he has broken as president." The story relies heavily on quotes from one Reverend Jim Wallis, whom the Times describes as an, "early supporter" of the President. Wallis tells the Times Mr. Bush has, "failed the test." He is the only person in the whole story identified as a Bush supporter. But Wallis is, in fact, an ardent Democrat, who did not vote for Mr. Bush, and who edits a liberal religious magazine called Sojourners, which has consistently criticized the President and his administration. None of this is mentioned in the Times story.

Any time you hear a person with the title "Reverend" in front of their name endorse some liberal garbage, you can bet that the "church" they are pastoring has absolutely no tie to any major religious body (if they are a pastor at all).

Senator Ted Kennedy announced today that, although he has been a Republican all his life, and cherishes the conservative ideals of Ronald Reagan and Strom Thurmond, even he has had to rethink his political identity in light of President Bush's terrible behavior. "I'm thinking of becoming a Democrat" said Ted Kennedy. Sources within the Bush Administration admit that they have screwed up the country and that Senator Kennedy is probably right to abandon their political party. "We suck" said a high ranking officia, who requested anonymity.

Wouldn't have to go read far to get Anti-Bush, he is not a conservative, quotes, just put up a positive Bush thread and in several minutes the people that are not voting for Bush because (fill in the blank) pop out of the woodwork!

Gauthier: The poverty Bush can't grasp
By Deborah E. Gauthier
Thursday, August 28, 2003
President George W. Bush supposedly said, at one point in his campaign three years ago, that he "didn't understand how poor people think."
So according to the New York Times, he asked for the help of the Rev. Jim Wallis, who was director of Call to Renewal, a group of churches that fight poverty. At the time, Bush described himself as a "white Republican guy who doesn't get it." And he wanted to "get it."
Wallis was initially taken with Bush's "compassionate conservative" views, particularly the proposal to provide federal funding for faith-based programs. Wallis now labels Bush a failure.

It is easy to spot and has been although they have ramped up their negativism and nothing ever happens. According to them I am a RINO, liberal, socialist, and the list goes on! Just post that these unknown screen names have been lying in wait until this election and are RATs and you hear back they have been Republican.
Republicans that I know don't threaten not to vote if someone doesn't fit their agenda 100%! And I really resent the fact that they are calling lifelong Republicans RINOs!
My two cents!

It amazes me that everyone immediately recognies democrat plants on the Republican call-in lines on C-SPAN (the ones who say "I voted for Bush, BUT...yada, yada, talking point of the day"). Yet, the same people on FR who are so perceptive when it comes to C-SPAN, fail to recognize the EXACT SAME TECHNIQUE used here on this forum ("I voted for Bush, BUT...").
Do they think no liberals read this forum? Do they not understand that liberals have figured out how to mislead, agitate, and divide people on this forum? Do they think liberals can't type?
I will continue to point it out, but I am afraid we have a lot of people who don't understand how liberals operate.
One thing for sure, if you EVER hear me saying that infamous phrase, you will know that I have been replaced with a pod person.
By the way, I have been told that there is someone on DU who calls herself Miss Marple. It's not me, as I don't go there...too creepy. I thought this was interesting. Perhaps someone is trying to make ME look like a double agent. Fat chance.
To: Stultis
More lies from "the newspaper of record." It's amazing they thought they could pull this one off, because Wallis is a well-known liberal and longtime Bush critic.
To: Grampa Dave
"Wallis was initially taken with Bush's "compassionate conservative" views, particularly the proposal to provide federal funding for faith-based programs. Wallis now labels Bush a failure."
This seems bogus. Most liberal churchmen were very critical of the "faith-based initiative" right from the get-go, so this story sets off my BS alarm.
