I saw this report last night on
Nightline. All I can say is its about damned time.
It goes without saying however Fishbein should be b*tch slapped repeatedly until he wakes up and stops blindly defending the indefensible.
I also hope Zicari and Romano are convicted and given the max. It is precisely their kind of filth that creates and feeds violent sex offenders. That is why this is not a First Amendment issue and they should be held accountable no matter what.

The material depicted in the videotapes produced by Extreme Associates is extremely vile, degrading and extremely offensive to women
So, is The Man Show next?

"We're facing more time than the guy that they just arrested that was trying to sell the surface-to-air missile," said Zicari. Damn right! A SAM might shoot down Air Force One, but dirty pictures tear the very fabric of our nation. We have to focus on the greater threat!
Note to the sarcastically declined: this is sarcasm

To: Houmatt
The media is again parroting the "Chrisian Right" thing again, as if people with sensibilities belong to some secret society. You can't get away from the lies and distortions. It's all John Ashcroft's fault and all them damn Bible thumpers that you can't go down and purchase a film depicting vile filth.

That's some dangerous thinking. A lot of things could be said to feed sexual violence. What adults choose to do with their own bodies is their own business, and the government has no place meddling with it. (Emphasis on 'adult' and 'their own', so no obfuscatory child porn or abortion arguments, please).

It is precisely their kind of filth that creates and feeds violent sex offenders.Do you have any scientific proof that exposure to porn turns normal people into sex offenders? Or could it be that those individuals with psychopathology commit acts with or without pornographic material.

This is pathetic.
With all the things going on in the world today our DOJ is wasting their time with this crap(no pun)?
These morons need to get their priorities straight.
On September 11th, 2001 more than 60 FBI agents were camped outside the Rainbow Farm in southern Michigan investing their shooting of two Marijuana activists.
Two months ago the Feds revealed that they had been spents 1000's of man hours busting glass blowers and pipe widdlers in Operation Pipe Dream.
Boy do I feel safer.
Do we ever learn?

"To meet the legal definition of obscenity, a film has to depict sex in an offensive and prurient fashion"
"Offensive" = extremely unappealing
"Prurient" = appealing to a base desire
Think about it. "Obscenity" is simply about stopping others from enjoying what you don't.

Yes, we must stop porno films from carrying out suicide bombings and flying airliners into buildings.
I'm glad the Justice Department is spending its effort and my tax money on stopping the threat large breasted women pose to national security.
And meanwhile, the financial wheeler-dealers who have destroyed millions of lives are living well on their country estates. At least they won't be able to watch porno anymore.

I take it you didn't like the movies. Well, no one forced you to watch them, did they?
It is precisely their kind of filth that creates and feeds violent sex offenders.--Not if you don't watch them.
You, of all people, should know.

To derive sexual gratification from images of rape and murder is obscene. Anyone who would say otherwise is delusional, or simply a contrarian libertine looking for an argument.

Why do I find this quote incredibly difficult, if not outright impossible, to believe?
Paul Fishbein, president of Adult Video News, a trade journal for the adult entertainment industry, is well aware of the conflict presented by the films of Extreme Associates. "They're horrible, unwatchable, disgusting, aberrant movies that I'd have to vote were not obscenity because the First Amendment is pure and has to remain pure," he said. Extreme is one of the most successful, heavily advertised production houses in the business, contributing a LOT of ad dollars to AVN.
Sounds like ol' Fishbein might be trimming his sails to whichever way the wind is blowing, but he has absolutely zero history of doing this, so I find this quotation highly dubious.
I've seen some of the videos in question, and the rubes at the DOJ must be smoking some of the confiscated grass from the DEA. There's no way they're going to be able to prove this case.

Obscenity is extremely hard to prove. Which may require a legislative remedy, but which certainly won't be helped by today's courts. And even if the court disapproves, it's a hard sell to a modern, "enlightened" jury, the majority of whom were spawned in America's cultural desert.

Dec. 1777, Valley Forge
General Washington: "How are you doing, soldier?"
Cpl. Lawyerman: "Just fine sir. The frostbite only got two of my toes and I should be good as new by spring as long as gangrene doesn't set up in the wound."
General Washington: "You're setting a good example for the rest of the men through your endurance these hardships. Stout-hearted fellows such as yourself are a gift from God..."
Cpl. Lawyerman: "Please General, stop mentioning your diety. I don't appreciate you using your position of authority to force your beliefs on me, and it makes me feel uncomfortable when you mention ."
General Washington: "...If that's your wish. So what motivates you to stay out here in this frozen darkness without hope of eternal reward?"
Cpl. Lawyerman: "Well, personally General, I'm doing it for the PORN..."

"We're facing more time than the guy that they just arrested that was trying to sell the surface-to-air missile," said Zicari.Welcome to the future. Never mind the stench.
Next time I'm trying to decide which is a worse act between making disgusting movies or trying to kill thousands of Americans I guess I'll be forced to choose the road towards killing thousands of Americans in order to serve a shorter prison term.
Let's just skip all these middle steps and have the churches write our laws.
Americans dying and these dips like Ashcroft and Bush want to stamp out a filthy moviemaker that no one has ever heard of. What a waste of government time and money. No need to pay attention to Americans dying when there's dirty films afoot.
P.S. How did members of the current administration come to the conclusion that movies are more reprehensible now unless they are watching them? Great job guys.

The whole effort seems silly to me. Most people have interest in this material purchase it willing.
I don't think goverment should be legislating personal morals that do not hurt anyone or infringe upon others.

Ashcroft is a real S.O.B...he's got the FBI going after your MP3 files and people who put naked pictures on the internet. But he's got his head up his ass when it comes to the enemy invasion across our borders and the Earth Liberation Front.
To: Houmatt
Extreme Teens #24 has adult women dressed up and acting like little girls in various hard-core pornographic scenes How dare they do this!!! Off to Marion for 50 years!
Johnny Ashcroft has lost his mind. This is not what we signed on for. This and the "Bong Wars", and the DoJ becoming an arm of the Recording Industry of America.
There are ral terrorists operating in this nation EVERY SINGLE DAY! They are called the E.L.F. and Ashcroft is doing jack sh*t about it.
To: Houmatt
To meet the legal definition of obscenity, a film has to depict sex in an offensive and prurient fashion with no artistic value. It is this subjectivity that worries some in the industry. This decision will be overturned just like the sodomy laws were overturned. It's sex. It goes on in privacy now (courtesy of the internet and home video). This is no longer the movie theater down the street.
Porn has long been about prurient depictions of sex with no artistic value. What is the artistic value behind "Girls Gone Wild"? The nation's sex laws aren't what they were 30 years ago. The constitution will let this pass some day.
I'm not defending the production of pornography, just sayinf that "community standards" doesn't account for anything these days. The same "privacy" cited in the Lawrence v. Texas decision holds here.
Of course, the producers could be prosecuted for paying people to have sex (prostitution/pandering).
