Clearwater, FL August 30, 2003: On Saturday, August 30, 2003, a Federal District Court Judge in Tampa scheduled an emergency hearing in the case of Terri Schindler-Schiavo, a disabled woman whose husband has petitioned the courts to end her life by the removal of her feeding tube. This hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at the Federal Courthouse in Tampa.
Thanks for your update! Let's all continue to hold Terri up in our prayers! Keep hanging on, Terri!

I didn't know that a "vegetable" could experience discomfort. Sure they can. Pain is the most primitive of emotions.
I have had both personal and professional experience with similar cases. There are many people living in Nursing Homes who are being kept alive despite the fact all meaningful life for them has long ended. This sounds like one of those cases.

Send it to Jeb, and to the Atty Gen by e-mail. Document the link, and send it as an attachment. Please - I have sent in these documents before, but they are getting so much mail I don't know if it's getting through.
Make sure to put in your subject line as "SCHIAVO CASE" and "CONFLICT OF INTEREST"... we've got to get somebody to listen to us!!

Felos was Chairman of the Board for Hospice of the Florida Suncoast... perhaps that's the link.

Just saw this; nice catch. I'm seeing if we have some other names in here...

Please: DO not establish a new thread. There are far too many threads on this issue as it is. Information is not being readily available because it is so scattered.
The better solution : Link other threads to your post!
To: Robert Drobot
Good idea.
Sorry I suggested posting it separately.

Terri's "husband" is a b*stard. Why the dogged determination to kill his wife? Thanks for posting the latest news. I wonder who greased the wheels for the Federal District Court to hold an emergency hearing? Judge Greer is going to be very sorry that he publicly dissed Jeb Bush. I emailed Laura Bush, I wonder how many other folks did? Ah who cares, this might be the break that will get Terri the help she needs :)

Terry's parents offered to "pay" her husband the amount left in the medical account if he would just divorce her. he said no. If and when Terry dies maybe her parents should sue him (and maybe threaten now) in a wrongful death suit. Tell him they'll drag it out til all his money is gone.

Terry's parents offered to "pay" her husband the amount left in the medical account if he would just divorce her. he said no.See? His behavior indicates that there is something else going on besides money. Terri's parents should make his life a hell should he succeed in killing her. How could any woman take up with a man like that and have children by him, knowing how cold and heartless he is?

Request of me the affadavit, etc. anent the present up and coming Federal Case, etc. It is not the case at all that which you suggest. Michael Schiavo deserves to be behind bars.

Although the traditional and trusted hospice philosophy has been to care for the dying without either prolonging or hastening death, Doctor Kingsbury rejects the notion that TS and withdrawal of food and water causes or hastens death. A doctor who doesn't know about the benefits of food and water??. Perhaps he needs to go on a 'forced diet'.

Wayne Garcia [who's with PR firm that handled elections of both Greer and Martha Lenderman-- a Board Member at Terri's hospice]
spent 13 years in daily print journalism as a reporter and editor for the Gainesville Sun, Tampa Tribune and St. Petersburg Times. Is this PR-newspaper connection affecting the way Florida papers cover Terri's case?
Samples of columns in St. Petersburg Times:
1. Terri Schiavo unlikely to recover, doctor says (September 24, 2002, By Times Staff Writer)
She has been in a persistent vegetative state for more than 12 years.
2. Governor as guardian - in whose interests?, MARY JO MELONE. Aug 28, 2003
As for the governor's call for a guardian, Schiavo already has one who's quite legal - her husband, Michael Schiavo. He's just not the guardian Schiavo's parents want. He favors the removal of her feeding tube. They don't. Schiavo's fate has been batted about for years upon years, with appeal after appeal, testimony from expert after expert, to the point of absurdity.
3.
Ethical storm swirls after a final meal, ANITA KUMAR, April 25, 2001
As the bitterly divided family of Terri Schiavo awaits her death, the Catholic Church declines to take sides. [snip] With food and water, she could have lived decades longer but in the same persistent vegetative state she has been in for 11 years. [snip]Dr. Vince Perron, associate medical director at LifePath Hospice in Tampa, said patients who no longer receive nutrition usually become unconscious after two or three days. They slip into a comalike sleep until they die in another two days to two weeks.
"People don't suffer," Perron said. "It's a peaceful, comfortable way to die.

"This sounds like one of those cases." You are obviously not up to speed on this case.
