[history]
Invisible man: Sen. Tom McClintock faces one of a candidate's worst nightmare, finding himself not included in the official state voters guide.
A state appeals court ruled against McClintock's request for inclusion, saying the Northridge Republican didn't do his paperwork correctly.

Consider this example, of the overall caliber of his campaign.
Last November most conservatives bellyached that Simon's inept campaign performance had cost the election.

I believe Chicago tactics have spread to the left coast.

Was this a trade-off they conciously made or just a big mistake. I guess this process can be confusing, but this is a shame.

The maverick politician strikes again. Hi-Oh Silver, away!
It must be the RINO's plotting against him in a country club between rounds of golf.
To: Fred Mertz
Fred, his own lawyer admits what the problem was. They goofed up. I find this unfortunate, but not like Chicago politics at all.
To: Fred Mertz
So California voters should vote for a candidate that was unable to follow simple guidelines/directions that the other 100+ candidates didn't seem to have a problem with?

DOH!

Have to agreed.
He tried to be 'holier than thou' about not taking public financing and it turned around and bit him in the ass. No due diligence by he and his campaign staff. It was not as if he was going to exceed the fundraising limit imposed by the California 'public financing' law before the October 7th election.
His 'principles' got in the way of reality.
Too bad.
And now like a Democrat, he tried to use lawyers to overturn the law.

horsemanure.... its called principals on limiting finance sources! ... something the Ahnuldistas can't even spell!
no big deal ...in CA less than 25% of the population reads
anything, and certainly not the voters manual. won't have
any effect since Tom's support is rabid and deep...
send Tom some money! he's the only one that will actually
pull the state out of depression!

Gary Coleman and Gallagher and a porn star managed to get it right, but not Tom?

According to the court decision (dicta), he had until 8/29 to file amended paperwork. This article does not say whether McClintock did so.
http://appellatecases.courtinfo.ca.gov/search/dockets.cfm?dist=3&doc_id=44791 This link will take you to the Court of Appeal website, which reads:
The petition for writ of mandamus
is denied. We will assume, without deciding, that
Petitioner was authorized by Government Code
section 85401, subdivision (a), to file an
amended "statement of intention." Nevertheless,
the record is inadequate to provide Petitioner
with the requested relief. Among other things,
Petitioner has failed to present evidence that
he tried to file, or was in a position to file,
a signed and dated amended statement of intention
in a timely manner, i.e., on or before 08/29/03
at 5:00 p.m. At best, the record contains an
unsigned and undated amended statement of
intention, in violation of Government Code
section 85200. Blease, Acting P.J. (H K)

And now like a Democrat, he tried to use lawyers to overturn the law. Try reading the court decision. The court agreed with McClintock that he had the right to file an amended statement, but said the record was inadequate to show if he did so. They also state that he had until 8-29 to file the statement.

he's the only one that will actually pull the state out of depression! Quite a claim, but not rhetorically up to the college entry level, the junior high school debate club level, or even demagoguery. Meaningless without some justification. Please forward justification.

Someone needs to explain to the audience here the "voter's guide."The Sec. of State mails out, prior to the election, a pamphlet containing the text of proposed initiatives, as well as arguments for and against same. In addition, it includes the statement of candidates for each office (i.e., their campaign pitch). It is basically a free advertisement. I'd imagine that 95% of the sheeple toss this pamphlet right into the trash. The people who have enough interest to read it are more likely politically informed and have already made up their minds.

Evidence to the fact the demonrats are pusing hard for their coronation of either BustaMECha, or BustaMEChA-lite (Arnold), as governor of Kalifornia.
Vote for Tom McClintock, the true conservative choice.

The Orange County Register
August 30, 2003 (page 2)
"How They Doin'?"
(section is in print version; not in online version)
Tom McClintock:
"You know he's all about shrinking the size of governmental budgets - but from his fund-raising reports it looks like he's applied the same philosophy to his campaign budget. He might know where the beef is - but where's the campaign money? And please, does he have to keep beating that dead-horse-of-a-line comparing himself to legendary comeback nag Sea Biscuit? Neigh!"
truth-seeker commentary:
Simon ran a weak campaign last November, letting conservatives down.
I'm posting some evidence that McClintock is deja vu, "recall" version.
To: Old Professer
"Someone needs to explain to the audience here the "voter's guide.""
Voters guides which I have reviewed here in California include the candidates own statement supporting his candidacy.
To a certain extent, it is advertisement, mailed to the voters.
