Aside from the many friends I've made and the many things I've learned which never made it to the front page of any mainstream newspaper, FR has helped me to maintain my sanity as I recovered from a major surgery.

Being a politically active person, I was used to being out and about. On 9-13-01 I had a 5 level Cervical Fusion to repair a severe whiplash. I was confined to my home for 8 weeks after the surgery. Not even a first time shop lifter is confined to home for 8 wks!

I recouperated at FR. I needed a walker to get around for the first 5 wks. I couldn't get in and out of chairs by myself. I was nearly helpless. There is only so much television you can watch after the first week, when you're not used to watching at all.

Through the kindness of my family, someone was generally nearby to assist me in moving from the Lazy Boy, into the walker, and across the room and into my chair in front of the computer. I spent hours at FR, reading, posting and learning.

What has FR done for me???? It saved my sanity.
