I'm not flaming. If it gets their nose in the book one can hope it will do some good. Here is a snippet from another link to article:

Parents who ask their teenagers what part of the Bible engaged them most might be surprised to hear them cite the sections where "guys say what they like about girls." Would that be Peter's letter advising women not to braid their hair, decorate themselves with gold or wear expensive robes? No, it's "Guys Speak Out," a serial sidebar in Revolve featuring teenage boys' thoughts (alongside their handsome mugs) on how girls should dress and behave.

I agree with you. I read on some old posts that there are Freepers out there who think that the Purpose Driven Life series is just a money grabbing, church growing vehicle, and not legitimate because of that. I think it's a wonderful way to attract people to Christ, and wonder what could be wrong with that? Our church will be doing the Purpose Driven series next month, and it's not a findraising event at all, though, duh, if you gain members, you will increase your offerings, right? One thing leads to another, but if it leads to God, like these New Testaments aim to do, isn't that the point?

I don't see anything wrong with it as long as it remains true to its intended purpose AND as long as it promotes Godly living. IOW, as long as it is a tool for ministering to the world and the world isn't brought into it. Does that make any sense? LOL. It looks like it may be a great way to introduce kids to the Bible. Kids who would not consider it otherwise. Kids have their Teen and TigerBeat magazines that they ARE going to spend $$ on. Why not offer them a holier alternative??

A couple of things. What version is it? NIV most probably. Not the best version, in my humble yet educated opinion. Second, I look at this two ways. One way is to say it is good to get the Word(half of it) in the hands of young people. The other way is to say that the form in which something is presented determines the content. Iow, silly and trendy presentation, silly and trendy content. Could this trivialize the gospel? If the message of forgiveness through Christ's death and resurrection doesn't grab people, I'm not so sure a Bible like this will. Just my thoughts.
