What exactly is it that you want anyway? You want me to admit that your delusions are valid? You want me to admit that you are a better assesor of my intentions than I am? You want me to tell you my name and address so you can "do something" about this incredible insult I've levied against you?

I seriously think you should go to a doctor because you aren't well. No wonder your kids won't speak to you. No wonder you've become so isolated. I've never met you and I already can see how difficult you must be to deal with.

I don't really agree with any of the things you say I do with the exception of thinking that you "doth protest to much" and they are therefore probably true of you.

A little Rant about the "Most Selfish Generation"

I thought this would be about the generations before the Baby Boomers who are demanding more and more senior entitlements as they have become the wealthiest demographic group. That bunch is the leading cause of the massive growth of the federal government...

No pretending, no word games, no psycho-babble. You spoke plainly in your "rant". There was bravery in your clarity. No more back-peddling. Be brave now....speak clearly again.

Responsible adults stand by their deeds, and words.

Standing up for myself, & my generation strikes you as absurd, foreign, and needing professional help.

Standing by your own words, has you denying them, issuing hollow apologies, and just wanting to take your ball & go home.

Before your deign stand in judgement of responsble adults, try being one.

Bite me? That is something my selfish baby boomer mother would say! Why care? This world has gone to hell and you have maybe 20-30 years left at worst. Well Thank you very much!This may not be you, but it is a persistant theme regarding a majority of boomer's. I am 37 and nearly everyone I know my age is messed up in some way. The majority of women I know my age have been molested by a parent, family member or friend of the family. The majority of both men and women that I know are the product of divorce, both sexes have had little contact with their fathers. Almost none of the people I know my age have been given any money for a down payment for a home of their own nor any help with their education or with thier children. I remember from being a teen that none of our parents were ever home. Now most if not all of our parents are pretty well off and they look at us like we have a problem when we fall short of time and money. They forget that we spent nearly all of our time at grandmas while they worked and partied. They don’t realize that daycare is $200 a week and our mortgages if we are lucky enough to have one, are exorbitant along with everything else. I would say bite me, but I haven't much left.But then again, I suppose some of you would feel entitled to whatever I have hanging from my bones. After all, your kids are grown what do you care?

BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!!! Thank you for your excellent “rant” and for being a voice for our generation and for giving me a place to vent my hostility regarding “The Selfish Generation”. This is very personal to me as my parents are the poster children,(excluding the baby killers part)for the selfish generation. Workaholic, self-serving, stingy with time and money, clueless regarding their children and grandchildren. My mother knows their is not much hope left for me and my family and we both feel like it’s only going to get worse.I want to go on with my day to day but maybe sock away some non perishables and some cash for an emergency. She asks the other day “what would you have missed if you died 5 years ago”? “Nothing”, I said. It’s not like she ever watches my kids so I can clean the house in peace or have fun? My family gets no help once or ever. She said, “Why bother trying to survive”? I have three kids! That’s why! What is wrong with her? I think that since they only have 20-30 or so years left that it shouldn't’t matter if my kids and I survive??? Sure, create my suffering and then take away my will to survive and include my children in that. Why not? How do I ever speak to these people again??? It must have been nice sending the kids to their mothers house all the time, never paying for daycare, having us spend the night when they wanted to party all night...

My parents are baby boomers and are as you describe. Totally self centred. I often wonder why they had kids. I have lived with the fact that they are absentee parents and now are following suit by becoming absentee grandparents as well. They will leave this world being able to count the wealth they have acquired but cannot lay claim to being an involved part of our lives or our kids lives. I hope they are proud of themselves. In fact they should be ashamed. Way to go baby boomers.

I’m considered a baby boomer because of my birth year 1960 but I do not share the traits of that generation. I know how you feel, many of us my age had to deal with their decisions all of our lives. When we were 10 it became cool for parents to divorce and our familes were torn apart. When we were young teens we were introduced to many things we weren’t well equiped to deal with yet but since there was no parent watching us....

That's a heartbreaking story. I'm so sorry.

Surely, though, you can somewhat empathize with them. Like yourself, they've spent their whole lives blaming everything on their previous generation. Actually, you have far more in common with smelly hippies than most 'boomers' do.

As an aside; I offered no description of 'boomers' in post #50.
