Although I believe he was exaggerating a bit, there are several public fishing areas managed by the state to produce trophy bass. Two that come to mind are paradise and Dodge county PFA's.

Bass weighing between 12 to 18 pounds are caught every year from these lakes.

Nope, but these are.

12-18lb stripers are prime flyrod targets around here. In about 5 or 6 weeks the waters around NYC are going to be boiling with them!

No Eric, these are monster Georgia largemouth Bass. If you didn't know it, the State of Georgia holds the record for the largest large mouth bass at 24 pounds, 3 ounces. This record has stood for over 60 years, which is truly amazing. With all the Bass fishing tournaments over the years, you would think it would have been broken by now.
