Being on the right or left of an issue, a hawk or a dove, is merely a term to designate how a candidate is posturing. Dean will never say "I am getting to the Right of Bush on Israel;" that is simply not how politics works as if I needed to tell you.
What are you talking about? You are the one who stated, I wonder why he thinks he can get to the Right of Bush on this issue? Of course he doesnt think that. He doesn't want to do that. He will never state that. He doesnt even want that idea to cross anybody's mind. I dont even know why you made the ludicrous claim in the first place.
But let me ask, is it your basic contention that Dean is not trying to get to the Right of Bush on Israel? Then why did you post this article?
I thought it was funny and nonsensical. That's why I added my sarcastic comments to the title.
The very idea that Dean is a closet-moderate was silly enough to merit posting.

Because he is getting to the right of Bush on Israel. He backs the Likud policies more than Bush, therefore he is too the right. That has nothing to do with going on tv and saying "look see I am getting to the Right of Bush on Israel."
If your contention is that Dean does not want people to know about his position to the Right of Bush on Israel, that is just plain naive. It's part of a strategy (you do know professional run them there campaigns, eh?) to peel off Bush supporters. My question remains, why does he think this is a good strategy?
Dean is not a closet anything save that he is closet establishment.

"The very idea that Dean is a closet-moderate was silly enough to merit posting."If Dean's a closet moderate, he's hiding it real well since he "came out" as a leftwing lunatic a long time ago.
