Oh, and by the way...

I've not seen a SINGLE person that "Hates McClintock because of his conservative values". I've ONLY seen "Realistic Republicans" who watched Simon LOSE a SURE thing and don't want to see it happen again.

Precisely right. The really fascinating thing about this election is that it deprives the True Believers of a primary that is their usual way of getting their way in California elections (to the detriment of the party).

Instead, now they have to deal with Reality and actually trying to win an election against Republicans who actually believe in trying to win votes and elections rather than run just to "make a statement."

I can only imagine this revolting turn of events for them is driving them bananas.

Exactly right. We all think McClintock would do a fantastic job as Governor and will not knock him for being conservative in any way...BUT...he can't WIN. If he stays in and we lose, it will be so devastating to the Party work-a-bees that winning a state wide election any time soon would just be impossible. I'm anything but a downer person but I'm tired of trying so hard and losing. Arnold is a new kind of a guy with lots of new ideas, I hope, and I really hope these people will reconsider and give him a shot at this very difficult job.
