He's written an autobiography. His wife has posted comments about their marriage on-line. If you're going to live your life publicly, then people will assess you by your very public utterances.

I had an ex-boss who used to insist that he could tell you everything you needed to know about women. Afterall, he'd been married three times!

I don't claim to be either a marriage expert or an expert of Armstrong's marriage in particular. I'm just commenting on what Armstron himself said, "We're good friends..." If someone makes a public statement, I don't think it's inappropriate to voice an opinion about that statement.
