Superior - A church renovation project got a boost from Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The actor-turned-California gubernatorial candidate recently donated $1,000 to Cathedral of Christ the King Parish here for its renovation, said Steve Tarnowski of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Superior.
Tarnowski said Schwarzenegger made a sizable donation to the Los Angeles Archdiocese for a church renovation project. A consultant for that project is working with the Superior cathedral and told organizers to ask Schwarzenegger for help.
Schwarzenegger graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1979.

That's very nice, 1000 bucks and a News story. I hope he can afford it. I never have much respect for donations with a press release.

Your post is a good modern paraphrase of what Jesus said about public donations.

Could be but "a sizable donation to the Los Angeles Archdiocese" was spelled out in his tax returns that he released. I don't think it had been previously reported.
To: Afronaut
A grand is chump change for Ahnold. But to be fair, I believe that he has given ***millions*** to various charities over the past few years.

"Your post is a good modern paraphrase of what Jesus said about public donations."
Of course you ignore the fact that the CHURCH is the one that requested the donation and the CHURCH released it to the news.
Didn't Jesus say something about false witness ?

...for its renovation... Renovation, or wreckovation?
To: Afronaut
Yeah I suppose the years that Arnold has dedicated to the Special Olympics is just a big press ploy too. . .

Did you happen to run the other candidates, or were you just looking for some dirt on Arnold ?

What did he do? Jumping Jacks that he was going to do anyway?
Only kidding, I report you decide. I already
have.
His "Hero and Mentor" did pretty well also.
In 2002, Buffet donated over $11 million to the abortion industry.
In 2001, Buffett donated over $9 million to Planned Parenthood, the worlds largest abortion provider. According to Business Week, the Buffett foundation made a $20 million commitment to International Projects Assistance Services, a company that actually manufactures suction pumps used in abortion procedures.
Steve Mosher, director of the Virginia-based Population Research Institute, spoke on behalf of pro-life shareholders at the Berkshire Hathaway, Its the money to actually do the abortions
the nuts and bolts, the hard stuff that he funds.

"Sounds like two different projects."
Sounds like Arnold regularly donates to Church projects around the country, and they spread the word that he is a generous one to ask for funds.
To make an insinuation that he has done something he does not normally do for a press release that he did not issue --
What would you call it ?

I just happened to have the figures for the two tax years released recently.... all faith-based and children's charity :-)
---
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/08/11/calif.recall/ In 2000, his total income was $31,104,000. Schwarzenegger paid $8.5 million in federal income taxes and $2.6 million in state taxes. That year, Schwarzenegger donated $742,000 to charity. The top five recipients were Special Olympics; the Simon Wiesenthal Center; St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, California; United Friends of the Children, which creates programs for foster children; and the Inner-City Games.
In 2001, Schwarzenegger's income was $26,138,000. He paid $7,395,000 in federal income taxes and $1,923,000 in state taxes. His charitable donations that year totaled $4.1 million, which included a piece of residential real estate property, worth more than $2 million, given to the Catholic Church.

What charities does your stockbroker donate to? And does it have any bearing whatsoever on YOUR belief system?
