Liberals Claim Victory in Estrada Withdrawal By Jeff Gannon Talon News September 5, 2003

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- On Thursday, President Bush's embattled nominee to the D.C. Circuit Court of the Appeals asked that his name be withdrawn. In a letter to the president, Miguel Estrada wrote, "I believe that the time has come to return my full attention to the practice of law and to regain the ability to make long-term plans for my family."

Estrada's historic nomination would have made the Honduran immigrant the highest-ranking Hispanic in the Judiciary. His gracious exit did not close the door to acceptance of a nomination at another time. He wrote, "I profoundly hope that at some time in the future, I may be called again to serve my country in some capacity."

Jubilant Senate Democrats who led the filibuster against Estrada quickly issued victory statements that many suggest reveal a partisan motive behind their opposition. "This should serve as a wake-up call to the White House that it cannot simply expect the Senate to rubber-stamp judicial nominees," said Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA).

The Liberals have shot themselves in the foot with this, if a conservative can enunciate the situation well. Good luck finding a good conservative enunciator.

First we got to let them atleast win one, as little as it is. Otherwise they might get violent. Have you ever seen a violent liberal? Oh man they flap their arms and kick up dirt... very bad.

With that said, I am sure, I am very sure we will remind all hispanics right before we vote what the demoRats did to them. Took an educated well knowledge (no the two do not go together, if they did liberals would be in charge) upstanding hispanic and knocked him off his heals.

One thing I have noticed since GW has been pres. never underestimate him or his administration

Very perceptive. We either have wimps or RINO enablers for our Senate leadership.

WRITE YOUR SENATOR AND BITCH!

They should claim victory, they won. The Democrats did what their constituents elected them to do: thwart the Republicans.

It was the Republicans who didn't do what their constituents elected them to do... confirm judges and defeat the Democrats.

Why is it that Republicans refuse to fight the Democrats unless they are assured the victory will be easy?

Let's not stop there. Let's remind all Democrats how irrational their party leaders have become, and that it's okay to vote for a candidate from another party

Coalition for a Fair Judiciary

September 8, 2003

Mr. Ralph Neas
People for the American Way
2000 M Street, N.W.
Suite 400
Washington, D.C. 20036

Dear Mr. Neas:

We, the undersigned, have banded together to protest your appalling treatment of Miguel Estrada and other federal judicial nominees currently before the United States Senate.

Contrary to popular opinion, you are not the 101st Senator, nor do you speak for us on this or any other matter. For far too long, we have silently watched as you have hijacked the judicial nominations process and subverted the Constitution. Do not expect us to be silent any longer. When extraordinarily qualified men and women nominated for the federal bench are summarily rejected for no other reason than they do not embrace your extremist liberal positions or renounce the tenets of their faith, there is a serious problem in the nominations process.

It is judicial activists on your side of the table who have endangered the civil and political rights of millions of Americans. It is organizations on your team spending buckets of money and countless hours to spread lies destroy stellar legal careers and impeccable reputations of decent men and women who offer themselves for public service in the federal judiciary. It is Senators on your beck and call, armed with your talking points, which viciously attack judicial nominees. The casualty in all of this is nothing less than the Constitution itself.

It is the Constitution, when applied, not interpreted, which protects all of us, not just a few. Ironically, it is precisely those strict constructionists that you seem to fear the most who would be the first to uphold the law no matter how reprehensible to their “deeply held personal beliefs.”

What is “mainstream” to you is extremist liberal ideology to us. What is “advise and consent” to you is “delay and obstruct” to us. What are “deeply held personal beliefs” to you is “character, ethics and integrity” to us. That great divide between our camps is not likely to change anytime soon. It certainly won’t change so long as you continue to mistakenly believe that winning at all costs justifies the shameless smear campaigns you conduct.

The damage done by encouraging the subversion of Constitution may not be of concern to you or your fellow travelers, but one can always hope that a sense of decency will someday take root in your conscience.

In the meantime, however, rest assured that you would be challenged on this battlefield.
Make no mistake; it is a battle we intend to win.

Sincerely,

Yep, SOCIALIST DEMS have won a battle...they will not win the war. The AAMERICANS living in the United States are tired of their anti-law, anti-american, anti-God, anti-freedom, obstructionist - nazi-like behaviour.

Democrats are worthless pieces of snot that have dripped from the noses of those like saddam hussein.

***Why is it that Republicans refuse to fight the Democrats unless they are assured the victory will be easy***

Republicans feel that by fighting the Dems, they would appear "mean-spirited" and "extreme" to independent voters. Republicans wish to portray themselves as people who just want to "get along" in the hopes that will attract more swing voters into their camp. But, the flaw in this method is that Republicans end up standing for nothing. As a result, people have no reason to vote for them.
