And, of course, the frontrunner should drop out because he's not as conservative as the others.
Riiiiiight.

My vote belongs to McClintock. If he endorses Schwarzeneggar, I'll follow his endorsement. Arnold should meet with Tom and ask what it will take to win his endorsement. McClintock should then agree to drop out provided Arnold agrees to reverse the tripling of the car tax, change the Worker's Comp laws to those of Arizona, and void the $45bil of illegal energy contracts that Davis unlawfully signed. Plus, Arnold should agree to endorse Tom in a run against Barbara Boxer next year.

WASHINGTON The financial godfather of the California recall election says there's no way that actor-turned-candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger can replace Gov. Gray Davis unless some Republicans in the race drop out. Darrell Issa, a Republican congressman who invested $1.75 million of his personal fortune in an effort to oust Davis, said he bases his conclusion on "pure arithmetic." Of California's 15 million voters, 44% are registered Democrats; 35% are Republicans. The last day to register to vote in the special Oct. 7 election is Sept. 22.Some people believe Schwarzenegger can attract enough new voters to overcome the divided Republican...

Votes are now being cast. As of today people are mailing out their absentee ballots. The longer candidates stay in, the more likelihood that their votes will be locked in by absentee ballot.

That does sound perfect...
Arnold has already promised the first two, intends to re-negotiate the contracts... and I bet he would endorse Tom later, if asked. I wish you would holler your plan a little louder so the folks upstairs can hear ya :-)

Whoops, thanks for telling me!
I thought the search looked odd when it didn't come up with ONE hit on Congressman. I must have been set in General Interest....

IMO Bustamante is a 7/5 favorite over Scharzenegger, and will win unless McClintock drops out. Almost all of McClintock's support would then go to Scharzenegger and he would then, IMO, be an 8/5 favorite over Bustamante. But time is running out.
We can have another Democratic governor who will be just as bad as Davis, though for different reasons, or we can take a chance on a Republican political unknown. I want a Republican governor.
I hate to say it, but McClintock should drop out now. He has no chance to win and is just a spoiler now. All his candidacy does is help the Democrats and hurt Republicans.
His only chance died when Simon came in. That kept McClintock from breaking out of the pack early. And, IMO, even then he'd still be losing absent another Democratic candidate to split the Democratic vote. McClintock needed one good break and no bad ones to have a chance. He got the bad break and none of the good ones.
McClintock is history and, unless he drops out soon, we will be too.

Anyone seen Issa interviewed. Sharp guy. He would have made a good gov. The same thing applies to McCintock. Unfortunately, neither was likely to ever be elected.

(Vote for Arnold. At least he has a shot.)
To: Guyin4Os
Pragmatic. And Tom is going to be loyal to his loyal supporters by NOT endorsing Arnold simply to be a good sport or whatever. He'll do it if and only if Arnold makes it good, not so much for Tom per se, but for TOM'S POLICIES -- perhaps by agreeing to "take the pledge" (perhaps modified only to allow for NATURAL disasters, not "emergencies" of a more mundane, socialist kind?); to support a constitutional freeze on inflation-adjusted per-capita spending; and/or agreeing that Tom shall have a budget czar position with lots of pop, and the right to hit Warren Buffett with a Nerf (tm) bat once a day.
OMG, just imagine McClintock vs. Boxer. Pure good against pure evil. ** "Imperial March (Vader's Theme)" plays for Boxer **
