If there is a Republican in the Governor's mansion and the state hasn't fallen into the ocean, a Republican with name recognition could easily take the seat away from Boxer who is the weaker of the two senators from California.Where is this Governor's mansion that everyone speaks of?

Nobody wants to take on the illegal alien question what with the exploding population of people who are in illegal alien families and those who are first generation citizens. Those illegals pull their heartstrings and could be their grannies and grandfathers. And the demographics are changing very rapidly,,nobody wants to alienate Hispanic and other minority voters.
Show me even a single poll or election that demonstrates opposition to Illegals isn't the prevailing opinion of Americans across all demographics. There is no good reason for politicians, especially Republican politicians, to exhibit the cowardice they have on the issue of Illegals.

Indicated support for allowing undocumented immigrants already in the country to remain here, but a spokesman said later he was not specifically proposing an amnesty program. What was he proposing then? I heard Arnold do the same flip flop on John & Ken.

Thank you,,I just hate it when pious conservatives practice their exclusive little "I'll decide if you are conservative enough to get into my little club". They see the world in black and white. They will shoot us in the back every time. They remind me of girls at sorority rush who blackball people for having the wrong kind of pantyhose on. They would shrink the big tent we need to win. Not content with having a big say at the table, they want the whole damn table to themselves. I tolerate people who have views a whole lot different from mine and endure insults from the same people when I say what I think. This, I think, is what kills us every time.

Way to go Tamsey! I am copying this for the next person who says that Arnold and Cruz are the same!

Exactly as I said, that is your extremely biased belief, contrary to his statements and past actions (voting for Prop 187).
He is losing a nice chunk of Hispanic votes by taking this public platform.
You are asserting your own belief, nothing more.

We aren't 'conservative' enough. They wouldn't take our vote if we served it up on a silver platter.

I have a memory of a California guy who tried to take it on and was nearly ridden out of the state on a rail. Anybody remember his name? It is an explosive issue.

Being you have to be for electing the Democrats as a McClintock supporter, you should also have Bustamante's views.
Little Napoleon McClintock has crossed the line with absentees being able to be voted. He is now officially spoiling the race he can't win.
If you are not for the Republican front runner and if you do not vote as a Californian to elect him over the unelectable McHack, you have just passively backed up the Democrats and their Radical leftist agenda.
Maybe you don't get it or you are too proud to admit it, either way, a vote not for Arnold is a vote to empower the most radical Democrats and leftist agenda. Do you want congratulations on that?
Had the numbers been reversed with McC over Arnold 2-1, I would bet Arnold would have had the CLASS to leave.
One thing that separates Arnold from McClintock is a ton of class.
I also don't consider McClintock much of a man, men don't take the whole election down with them over their own agendas.
So list all your favorite Bustamante views, heck your pushing for him to win. Your practically in bed with him if you throw the vote down a McClintock hole.

Arnold has ALSO said in one interview that allowing illegals is an affront to people who came here legally. He has complained about how long it took him to become legal (15 years) and that he did it the "right" way, and what he did shouldn't be diluted with people who do it illegally. He makes the same point about legal vs. illegal immigration as Michelle Malkin. Maybe he should get her as his immigration policy czar!

Indicated support for allowing undocumented immigrants already in the country to remain here, but a spokesman said later he was not specifically proposing an amnesty program.
All that means is that Arnold is vaguely for Amnesty. If we've learned nothing else, we should know that politicians must always be parsed. "Now we have to move forward with the whole thing and to look at it, what we're going to do with all the people that are undocumented immigrants here in this state. What should we do? Should we have them to stay here, which I think is the right way to do, but how do you then include them in our society, how do you make it official, how do you make it legal?" he said. He added he would try to team up with other states with large immigrant populations and lobby the federal government to address the issue.
This proves my point. Arnold wants to legalize the Illegals. That's Amnesty. Arnold wants Amnesty. A vote for Arnold is a vote for Amnesty.

What is he proposing?
I can answer what I have heard, but I want to make this clear... I can't PROVE this part and I can't promise THIS is reliable. I don't like making statements in the forum unless I can back them up, this one I can't yet and I am looking for proof, okay?
From what I understand, again uncomfirmed by me, he will be proposing to offer illegal aliens who are employed or maintaining a family here the opportunity to apply for temporary work permits. I'm pretty sure they will have to go through criminal checks, etc, as if they were applying from outside the country.
Again, I haven't been able to find this in print anywhere, someone I know said they heard it on one of his radio interviews.

Pete Wilson. He was elected Governor by a landslide in 1994. Ironically, Wilson is the RNC's poster-boy for how to lose in California, because of his support for Proposition #187, which also won handily. What a hoot.

They want a small, very exclusive club, just small enough so they can meet in dark rooms, smoke cigars, bemoan the loss of morals in the country, and plot losing elections. Geeze! It is remarkable to me. Sometimes I have a big urge to share all of my "liberal ideas". At times I have and have made good friends here. But the damn flames just discourage it. I will be willing to be this is a more diverse forum that the 'true conservatives' could imagine. They don't know it, but they are surrounded by people who have views that might cause them to go pale.

Good post on comparatives just before an election with the actual results. Your posted numbers show what political scientists know from a wide variety of polls. The undecideds break sightly against the incumbent party compared to the already-decided voters. This is normal, and should be expected in California here as well.
