Justice Department and Homeland Security officials have improved their treatment of illegal aliens detained in the September 11 terrorist investigation, but "significant work" is needed to eliminate the harsh treatment of many detainees, a report said yesterday.

The Justice Department's Office of Inspector General, which was critical in a June report of the government's treatment of the detainees, said that while progress has been reported, it is not sufficient.

"In its June report, the Inspector General's Office called cell conditions "unduly harsh," found a pattern of physical and verbal abuse against some detainees, and criticized the length of confinement and lack of efforts to clear detainees of any connections to the attacks."

This whiner again? They should get rid of him now. He is an activist from the Clinton Admin, FGS.

Being in jail for breaking the law has never been a pleasant experience for anyone, ever. I suspect that the conditions in fed penitentiaries are rough also. No prisoner says, "Jail is great. Everyone is nice. I like it here."

It would be nice if the inspector would list the positive accomplishments of the system.

That wimp needs to spend a day at a public high school in any major city, then he would experience verbal abuse first hand.

That's not correct. We call ALL Iraqis "Hadjis".

It's not the insult that CNN would have you believe. "Hadjis" are those who have made the trip to Mecca and are held in high regard in their culture.

As for the rest of the media BS that CNN will have you believe, this would be a much easier theater to operate in if CNN wouldn't pratically dance and sing every time they report a convoy ambush.

They are practically an accessory, or at least aiding the enemy.

He is probably affluent, and never had to mix with the peasants. He acts like a jail should be a dormitory at Columbia.
