For the purpose of entering the country, we already have a national ID card. Its called a passport.
I wish government would quit using the drivers license for purposes other that showing you know how to drive a car.

For the purpose of entering the country, we already have a national ID card. Its called a passport. You are not required to use a passport to enter this country (or many other countries) - you can also use a notarized birth certificate and a valid photo ID - eh, like a driver's license. Hence the problem.
