God bless you bud...keep it up. It's a life long quest and duty...but we need more kids who understand and get out there and educate others...your kids and grandkids will praise your name for showing them the right way.

I was home when it happened....I must say, it has changed my life very much. I never would have signed up here, or done many other things if it those attacks hadn't happened.

One must wonder how such bad things better a person...

Great post, and thank you for all your work!

I was at home in Indiana with Fox News on when I heard them talking about the plane hitting the first tower. I started watching, and when the second plane hit the tower I knew we were under attack.

I called my husband and told him to turn on the TV in the break room and watch. Then I went out to buy bottled water and batteries and fill up the car.

People were in a daze... they just couldn't believe it. My sister drove home from the hospital she was working at and saw National Guard posted along the interstate.

I have never forgotten seeing the first tower come down. I was sick at the sight.

I will never forget September 11, and I will support every effort the President makes to rid the world of these monsters.

Great post. I'm always happy, encouraged and inspired when I hear from young people like you. We are trying to raise our sons to value their many blessing in American and we hope we are succeeding.

On 9/11 I was working at my computer in the family room, and hadn't turned on the TV or checked the news on FreeRepublic until after both planes had hit. I immediately thought "we're at war". It was horrifying to watch, and terrifying not knowing what else the day had in store for us. I couldn't tear myself away from the TV for hours, in total shock. I felt such anger and such utter helplessness at the tragedies in NYC and Washington DC.

After the plane went down west of us here in PA, I turned off the TV and went food shopping. It seemed like the only moment of sanity I could find, and I figured I'd better make sure we had plenty of food, in case of other horrible developments. We're near an air base, so we had the incessant (and reassuring) drone of patrol planes overhead all night long. It was erie. Ultimately the tears started rolling when I began to see the tributes to our fallen citizens appearing all over the world. Until then, I was too stunned to cry. The massive floral tributes and lit candles just broke through the shock with human kindness. I'll never forget it, not any of it.

Congratulations, son, on getting it right! You make this old lady proud just knowing that there are young people like you ready to take over for us senior citizens. Please let your mother know that she did a good job raising you!

On that fateful September day, I logged on to FR to see the post about the first tower. Since I never turn on the tv, I got the first word of it here. I ran in and tuned in just in time to see the second tower hit.

The way I see it, we've got to get them before they get us.

You are wise beyond your years. I'm so proud of you for the choices you've made in YOUR life.

God bless you, Scott. It's your generation that is going to have to get us out of this mess. WITH G-d's help you can do anything!!! Never forget that.

Great post. Makes me happy as a teacher to see that someone "gets it".

The very best thing to do now is never let them forget. I have a ball pissing off the liberals on our campus. They can't make a coherent argument against the war on terror and they resort to blood pressure ruining screaming fits. They really look stupid.

Thanks for sharing your experience & for starting this thread.

I was watching 'Fox & Friends' when the show was interrupted with breaking news of a plane crash at the WTC. At first, like many, I thought it was an accident...then came the realization that it was intentional especially when the second tower was hit by another plane.

I was getting so upset that I shut off the TV and went to FR...where I spent the next several hours learning what was happening. Being with other Freepers helped me during those horrible hours.

I got an instant message from a cyberfriend whose husband was a NYC firefighter. She said that he was going to the WTC. She requested that I ask "the Freepers to pray for his safety". Of course, I did just that.

I learned later that his entire company survived because their commander ordered them to wait a couple of blocks from the towers while he went to a 'command post' to get orders as to where they should go.

After the towers collapsed, they were able to find him and he was transported by a 'medical' boat to Staten Island. He eventually recovered from his serious injuries.

I believe that September 11 changed everything. Some say that people have forgotten but the many NYers I've spoken with...will never forget.

Just look how NYers handled the recent blackout.....no looting, citizens began to direct traffic, very little crime, and people worked together despite difficulties.

Those serving in Iraq who have written to me...express a very clear understanding of why they fight.....to protect America from another horrific day like 9-11-01.

Thank God we have a leader like President Bush who will NEVER FORGET!

Pissing off liberals is good... ;)
Welcome to the world of reality and truth, sdk. We're glad your here with us. For me the turning point was coming home after 10 years in Asia. It was a shock - and September 11th just sharpened the point. May god continue to Bless us - I thank Him for our wake-up call. My prayers for the families and friends of those who were affected by 9/11...BTW, that's ALL Americans. And thanks President Bush for your outstanding courage in standing up to terror. Thank heaven we had a man with strength leading our country.
We're on a ROLL, let's keep it that way!

Since that day, I have done much with my life. I have pissed off liberals, I've interned at Fox News, and I've truly dedicated the majority of my time to reading, watching, and breathing politics and current events...

Exceptional! I can only pray that you are part of a larger movement in rediscovering our foundations and infallible values on which this wonderful country was founded.

Keep in mind that along the way you will have to deal with frustration, disillusionment, and maybe worst of all, indifference. "Why do I even care" will cross your mind from time to time, but if you have a solid set of core values, anchored in a deep and abiding faith in our Creator, you can not be shaken from your principles.

Good luck,

FGS

It's heartening that you understand the challenges this nation faces. You are the future.

If you get a chance, come visit the web site that carlo3b and I put together with a photo memorial to 9-11. There is also an essay written by another young man (carlo3b's son), who describes his experiences on that fateful day.

Remembering 9-11
