No wonder Arnold doesn't want to go 1 on 1 with McClintock in a debate.

Again I say that Schwarzenegger is the wrong guy for California. He is the wrong guy to put forth as a salient Republican.

What a shock. The sound of chirping crickets echoing on this thread.
No Arnold supporter can offer any substantive defense for their man's vacuous grasp of the issues facing California.

They were both side stepping and dancing around the issue. Workers' comp reform always is a long drawn out process and always involves public hearings. When I was in California back in 1992 I consulted with one of the Governor's key appointees on workers' comp reform. Instead of real reform, after a year of studt, the legislature opted for a patchwork quilt of minor reforms.
In California, the name of the system is massive fraud. Workers file bogus claims, law firms specialize in bogus injuries in partnership with doctors and insurance companies deny legitimate injury claims everyday.
The system is broken. The single biggest factor that ruined w.c. is illegal immigration.
E.g. One law firm I worked for had an Iranian client who carried his own X-ray and CT scan reports around with him. I personally observed him to be moving around in the parking lot easily and without limitation. A half-hour later he showed up in our offices with an exaggerated limping gait. The guy was a total fraud and had already collected a bundle in an automobile injury claim. I informed the senior partner the client was a fraud and refuse to represent him. Two week later I was looking for new employment.
One year later the firm was answering questions under oath about their work comp department. True story.
The Iranian had bogus papers and had a relative who worked for a medical provider who could forge X-rays and CT scans. Iraians, "Persians," Saudis, Egyptians, yada yada were and are experts in sophisticated medical fraud tactics.

What a shock. The sound of chirping crickets echoing on this thread. Get over yourself. I answer all your posts yet you lack the cajones to respond. If beating your chest on this issue gives you solace in the though that Tom Mcclintock is going to "lose", something hes known for, then so be it.
As for Arnold's position on Worker's Comp issue...
Businesses cannot continue to suffer under skyrocketing workers' compensation costs. The day I'm sworn in, I will take action. I will call a special session of the Legislature to enact reforms to correct a system that imposes unaffordable costs on our employers, while denying decent benefits to injured workers. I will not sign a budget without workers' compensation reform.
But you really should be more concerned with bustamante's take on the issue as you're doing everything possible to get him elected.

A Governor, or a President, has to do two simple things:
- He has to articulate a vision, which can be done in extremely broad terms ("Fix Workers' Comp", "Strengthen Defence", etc). I don't expect President Bush to know all that needs to be known about missile throw rates and the like, and I'm pretty sure our Workers' Comp system is just as complex.
- He has to sell that vision to the public and legislature.
Regardless of what you or I think of Schwarzenegger's ability to deal with the harsh details of his plan, there is no question he has articulated a vision, one that could hardly be more different from that shared by Davis and Bustamante.
There is no question at all that he has hired staff who are more than capable of fleshing out of his plan with all the details we might ever want. For example, see this link
After watching him speak, there is no question he will be absolutely first-rate in articulating his vision to the rest of the State and Legislature. No doubt at all.
Now, it is true that his vision isn't the same as yours or mine. But it's better than anyone else in the race save McClintock, and McClintock doesn't have a thousand-odd cheering supporters rallying to his banner at 9:00 Saturday morning. I have seen him speak, and quite honestly I don't think he ever will, either.

Excellent analysis D. But, for some, they'd sooner elect a flaming liberal like cruz (they've said so many times) than a moderate conservative like Arnold.
That makes no sense, I know. But that's their position and their sticking to it.
Thankfully, they're in the extreme minority.

He has to sell that vision to the public and legislature. A certain German chancellor named "Adolf" had the above skills. The analogy is not that Arnold is Adolf, but having a vision is meaningless if the vision is a bad one.

We have a choice between a brilliant articulator of a vision that's about 80% where I want it to be, and an intelligent man who doesn't know how to excite the public, but is maybe 95% in accordance with my personal vision.
I would argue that if you want any chance of the vision actually becoming reality, especially when the party of your vision is in the minority, you go for the brilliant articulator.
It's not just the vision ... and it's not just the articulation.
The trick is to get a balance, and I think in Arnold we have a pretty good balance.
Unless you really think Arnold's Hitler. But that's laughable.

Obviously Arnold is unable to dazzle us with his brilliance so he is relying on Plan B.
