I know a Sikh who is from Idia who works at the 7 Eleven near me. I got in a 'discussion' with him about Indira Gandhi's assasination by two of her Sikh bodyguards.

I called their action dishonorable, at the very least. He then grew extremely angry and tried to ban me from the store. The Afghani immigrant owner overruled him though.

He tried to explain that in this country political differences were the norm. He told him to cool it, and to his credit, he largely has. But of course, we don't talk any longer, but that's fine with me.

Make no mistake about it, many Indians still bring many trapping of the old country with them.

That's a good example of why it's not a good idea to have huge numbers of any type moving in but instead have a slower and lower level of immigration that allows for assimilate. I think all the massive immigration waves brought problems that took decades to work out --- but some problems are lingering with us. Socialist labor unions for example which didn't exist in the original America were brought in by immigrants from Europe. They're part of our culture now --- we're stuck with some of these ideas of Socialism they brought.
